The dryer computer was $409.  My wife hates how the current set up doors open, the washer is not reversible.  So, she wanted stacked.  I talked her down off the stainless steel package that was an astounding $1200 each.  The same brand without the SS and with more features was $866 each.  The wanted the extended warranty (I didn't) and of course it's $40 to haul off the old ones.  Anyway, she should be happier doing laundry, which probably is a good thing.

My wife insists on doing the laundry, I've offered.  She does ask me how to get "X" clean at times.  We've had our front loader and dryer about ten years, the washer is still fine.  The lady at Lowe's said they would rehome it to some women's shelter.  Maybe they can fix the dryer too.

It's mid April and I've been over spending.

So, what sort of language in some legislation could curtail or limit "lobbying" without abridging free speech of individuals?
Keep the speech free and the money out of it.
If verbal/written IDEAS are persuasive, fine, great.
The moment a dollar appears, that's the problem.  That's what should be illegal.

5 Crazy Facts About Lobbyists | RepresentUs

They can't legally give money to elected officials today, so we're done.  Except. ...

They can however generate donations for their political campaigns.  This proposed law sounds nice and all, but can't pass for obvious reasons, and likely is unconstitutional.

Luckily, that’s something we can fix with a single law. The unseemly and terrible behavior we’ve covered in this piece may be legal now, but it doesn’t have to be. Reforms to ban lobbyists from coordinating fundraising, close the revolving door, and end “shadow lobbying” have already been proposed at the federal level, and they’re currently picking up momentum in cities and states around the country. As the anti-corruption movement grows, we get closer and closer to ending lobbyist corruption for good.

It's amazing that I say what lobbyists do isn't ethical and you continously have a retort.

What's legal and illegal doesn't matter, when so much money is flying around.  I love the end of your last post, but overall, you don't seem to understand the totality of the lobbying infestation killing our governance.

When the financial success of the lone corporation is placed above the good of the people, this is wrong.  If an idea itself is not persuasive and requires supplemental financial accompaniment, it is not a good-enough idea.

Why anyone would resist improving this situation is beyond me.  Idk, maybe your portfolio would suffer.  Poor you.

I suspect everyone here hates negatives ads, most of which come from PACs these days.  "Don't vote for X, he hates babies and baseball."

I don't see a viable mechanism for limiting their "gobs" of money, much as I'd love to do it.
Maybe you missed my comment here?  I'd love to change a lot of things, but most of them I see as "not gonna happen", so I don't stress over them.  I am aware of WHY they aren't going to happen, and simply point that out.

I'd like to reduce our carbon footprint also, but it simply is not gonna happen fast enough to matter.

I can't think of any Constitutional limit on "lobbying" that lobbyists wouldn't easily traverse.  It's mostly a destructive practice, but it isn't going to change.

You could make it so it's not "the way" and out in the open.  You could make it so it took place illegally, behind closed doors, etc.
But it's probably better to just shrug and say "fuck it."

Newsflash, I can't make anything of this ilk happen.  If you can, go for it.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas reported that his family has earned rental income from a Nebraska real estate firm that has been shuttered since 2006, according to the Washington Post.
In recent years, Thomas reportedly continued to disclose between $50,000 and $100,000 in income from the old firm annually.
It marks the latest question around the justice's financial practices after a recent ProPublica report revealed Thomas has accepted secret luxury trips from Republican megadonor Harlan Crow.

None of it matters.  We're post-truth.  Just lawyer up, you'll be fine.

Thanks "alternative facts" people.

Going after a SCOTUS Justice is VERY difficult.  Only they can recuse themselves on a case, for example.  There is not real code of conduct.  You COULD get him for falsifying business records, or somesuch, maybe.  Or tax evasion, always a good one.
