If there's running involved, it's a sport.
If you don't run, it's a game.

A good starting point for sure, I agree with this as a criterion,in general.

I also believe a sport must include an objective measure of scoring, like goals or points or runs or touchdowns or timing or distance.

I agree with your 2nd criterion

Boxing is neither a sport nor a game.  It's a fight with rules.

Is a track event a sport or a game?  It's a contest.  4x400 ... team sport?  Or contest?

What about water polo?  No running involved.  Pretty much a tough "sport" ...

Baseball is interesting because in the past folks who were, um, a bit overweight played well.  Pitchers in particular come in all sizes and shapes.  I think today the players are nearly all in quite good condition.  I don't much care how we categorize things, but it's fun.

I watched the Braves sweep the Reds with three one run wins.  I think the Reds are becoming a pretty decent team.

I guess for pitchers in the... American League?... baseball is not a sport.

I'd say track events are a sport.  They run, and are objectively measured by time and/or distance between runners, to determine the results.

Field events... hmmmmm... is the "windup" for delivery of the shot put considered "running?"  :)

my point exactly

golf is unique its not like football or other sports

when folks try it it either grabs them or it doesnt

I was in the grab category and used to pkay it as much as I could without getting a divorce

I dont condemn those who hate it

That's why you golf with your wife.  I can golf as much as I want (usually 2x a week) because the wife goes with me. BTW I still suck at golf

the egg lobby.........

https://www.vox.com/the-goods/2022/3/2/22956966/inflation-explained-by-eggs

A fun fact: In the ‘60s, amid concerns about inflation and rising prices, President Lyndon Johnson asked the US surgeon general to put out an alert about cholesterol in eggs, apparently trying to curb demand. It didn’t really help, because prices were up among a bunch of items, not just a few — which is also the scenario we find ourselves in now.

When the pandemic met the egg
Like it has all industries, the pandemic has shaped the story of the egg market over the past two years, and that story hasn’t been a linear one.

Lobbying is an attempt to screw up the ratios of want and need meant by the "...of the people, by the people, and for the people..."
It's unAmerican.
