it's all about the $$$

and for a few, it's an easy way to take a shot at the PGA after having issues in the past
HV3 was surprisingly candid about it: https://golf.com/news/harold-varner-slams-liv-pros-over-reasons-joining/

The article gave me a lot of background on him, and his candor made me respect his choice to join LIV. It's easy to play for "legacy" or "tradition" when you've never had to wonder where your next meal is coming from. And let's face it, most of the kids exposed to golf at an early age never had to worry about that.

But when you grow up poor, and had to watch your dad, and watch your grandpa, scratch and claw just to get anything they had in life, it's different. When you grow up like that and someone offers to drop 8 figures in your bank account, ensuring that you and your family will have financial security for the rest of your life, you take it. Because nothing is guaranteed on the PGAT, but seeing your bank account with that balance is.

Golf (at least watching it on TV) has always been about 2/3rds rooting against guys as it is rooting for somebody.  I didn't need LIV v PGA to make that happen.

the only bozo I was rooting against Sunday was Cantlay.   Get lost dude.    Love Victor's way of handing that on 13 green and 14 tee.      Slow players deserve to shoot 80s, particularly when they are out of contention and grouping filler on Sundays.

The Georgia Bulldogs will introduce Boom, the 10-month-old English Bulldog, as Uga XI during pregame ceremonies at the upcoming G-Day Game on Saturday.

Those Area 51 guys have invented an entire fictional world around me, with me posting under pseudonyms and making physical threats.
Thankfully they're mostly quarantined there.  Literally psychotic, paranoid ideas.  It's kind of amazing.

I saw that, I rather doubted you had anything to do with it.  Maybe someone there had a similar handle.

yes.  But while the Tiger effect has made the Tour deeper than ever, it has also filled it with boring ass guys who grew up on the country club.  Guys used to have personality you could root for or against.  Now they are all bland.  Adding LIV added something to it, particularly when easily hateable guys like Koepka and Bryson joined it

You're kinda blunting the point here. Obv they were easily hateable BEFORE joining LIV, so maybe they weren't all that bland?

I don't think of Tyrell Hatton as bland either lol.

I hate slow play. I may not play well, but at least I do it quickly.

Fair.  I should say nobody was easy to cheer for.  It was easy to root against vs. bland, and then all of those guys who were easy to root against, joined LIV.  I like Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth, but I still don't know if I could tell them apart.

And in fairness, I don't know that I could have separated Brooks Koepka, until he picked a fight with Bryson, the one easy guy to hate.  But then he became the early 2000s Red Sox, pretending to be the good alternative to the Yankees, in their own mind, but were actually just the less successful version
