power is bad obviously when it leads to corruption

many folks can't handle the power and are corrupted by it

the 3rd person might hopefully be motivated to do something besides arguing

the 2 people in the room have shown for decades, that's mostly what they do w/o any decent work towards improving the country for the people
hell, I don't care how many it is, one, two, three, or more parties.
The American people deserve at least one party that will work for them.
the two we have had for decades are deplorable at best.
We ALL want a change.  This is why Obama and Trump where elected.  Hoping for change.

The two parties in power obviously do NOT want change.
They are both fat and happy
this is from your view point
from my view my party wants to good for America and the other party doesnt
thats basically why and how parties are formed

your view is only satisfied when a party comes along whose beliefs agree with yours

If you put a far leftist and a far rightist in a room and ask "Do you want change?" The vote will be 2-0 in favor of change.

That doesn't mean that they agree, they don't.  The compromise, frankly, is no change.

Political parties argue, sure. A whole lot of their supporters do not WANT them to compromise. The far left and far right get MAD AS HELL when elected officials from their side compromise.

Much as we don't want to admit it, most of the problems with Congress are simply reflections of problems of us.

Maybe the problem isn't simply that Congress is hopelessly divided but rather that WE are hopelessly divided.

I think the Powers in both parties want to retain power.  To do that, they pander to their adherents.  They promise if you elect them, all will be well in the world.  But they never seem to deliver because of those other guys.

They both create fear often from little or nothing.  They can't compromise on any issue because they thrive on having unresolved issues.  If they do appear to compromise a bit, it results in something so watered down it's a nothing.

We have major issues which rarely get mentioned by politicians because they are playing the look over there game.

Sure, I'd add to that the fact that the extremists on both sides tend to be loudest and most active.  Moderates rarely get fired up over anything.  So, yes, we get little or nothing done legislatively that addresses key issues.

from my view my party wants to good for America and the other party doesnt
This, right here, is the problem.

Both parties want to do good for America. They disagree on what that is. But it's an unnecessary (and incorrect) logical leap to say just because you think the effect of policies that the other guy wants aren't good, that their motive is to do harm to America.

This isn't an attack on you personally, 320. I see this behavior, often, VERY OFTEN, from both sides.

I note to conservatives that IF somehow magically Bernie and his Bros got their way, we'd be more akin to Denmark.  It wouldn't be what I'd choose of course, but Denmark is a fully functioning country (and nice to visit).  And this of course is an unlikely scenario, a kind of "worst case" for conservatives.  Our liberals in most of Europe would be considered rather conservative, even Bernie would be right of center in France for the most part.

(And I know France has a passle of issues.)

Our rather liberal friends in Cincy expressed astonishment that my wife didn't want to move back to France.  Their view of Europe is, well, not the same as mine.

never the less I have a set of beliefs developed over my lifetime and Im going to attach to the party that adhears to most of my beliefs and thus will stay away from the party that represents the least of my beliefs

Im not sure how to change this nor that we should change it

its called democracy and every voter gets to choose the direction which agrees with most of thier beliefs

you know guys has it ever dawned on you that there are people in this country who dont think the system is broken and are very happy with the current government

just because you think the system is broken doesnt mean it is

it might just be that you are frustrated that what you believe isnt being exhibited by the current government and you want to change it

the only solution within our constitution is through voting and having your guy win

thats basically why and how parties are formed

your view is only satisfied when a party comes along whose beliefs agree with yours
then why doesn't your party do good?
When was the last time your party had a majority of power in Washington to get things done?
What did your party do at that time to change this country for the better?

If your party's excuse for not getting things done is "the other" party, then there may be a problem with the 2-party system. Or perhaps your party really doesn't care enough to do good, they simply play the blame game with the other party while staying in power.

my view will only be satisfied when any party comes along and does something to improve this country. having beliefs is great.  But, if there's no action it's useless.

similar to climate change beliefs

Yes, the current government frustrates me.  The 2-party system and it's inability to change things.

In my opinion, the current government is more than the poor slob standing behind the podium bearing the presidential seal.

your guy???  I don't have a "guy"

all the guys line up on one side of the aisle or the other and vote party lines, however foolish and get nothing done.
