Early on in the pandemic, I remember going with my wife to a bank, wearing a mask, and asking her if she ever thought you could go into a bank with a mask on, and not be rounded up by security.
Until COVID, it was outright illegal to wear a mask in New Orleans on a day other than Fat Tuesday.

Back in the day when I still had a motorcycle, I was going into the bank and because I'd just parked the bike, was just starting to remove it as I entered the bank. I conducted my business, and was putting it back on as I exited the bank's doors.

At that point I was stopped by some nice policemen who had me wait a moment to ensure that the bank had not been robbed, because apparently someone called about seeing someone enter a bank wearing a motorcycle helmet.

(For any Gen Z readers out there, FYI we used to occasionally have to go INSIDE a bank to transact business. It's more than just a pretty building with an ATM out front.)

The fish fry, a long-established Friday staple during Lent, is roaring back from COVID with an assist from something decidedly newfangled: an interactive map built by local volunteer coders that points the way to scores of churches, fire halls and other places that offer battered and breaded seafood for the taking. In the process, the new Pittsburgh is helping point the way to the old.

My favorite Friday night perch platter, never took a rest during Covid. They stayed open the entire time with never a mask in site. The place has very limited indoor seating, but during the warmer months it triples in size due to the outdoor seating. I would be heading there tonight, but some friends called and we are going to a different establishment for their Perch platter.

I last had an "aged" steak in 1982.   The night and day after was rough.

All in since 1969
