To put it a different way. Say someone cuts your brake lines without your knowledge, and you drive out, discover you have no brakes, and run over a kid. Are you criminally responsible for negligence because you didn't check to make sure your brakes worked before getting on the road?
Horrible analogy. Because nobody expects anybody to inspect their brakes every day.

But on the other hand, if you are a professional driver ( bus driver, truck driver, etc) and it was expected that you would make some sort of vehicle inspection on a routine basis and failed to do so I think you’d be negligent if you caused someone’s death.

I'm not sure I'd expect someone to inspect a gun if it's been inspected twice already, either.

Not really because there was that same element of expecting routine experience to unfold

Is the driver in the case case of the armorer or the actor?

(It seems like an odd case to make, unless you had really good info to prove he was told explicitly not to do something and then did. Which maybe they do. Might also just be a way for a DA to get some pub and fame. OTOH, one would assume a wealthy actor won't lack for quality representation, so the DA will likely really have to prove it if he has the law on his side)

What if it's a stunt car and you're about to shoot a scene?

From the CNN (Communist News Network) link posted above:

Hutchins was killed on the film’s New Mexico set in October 2021 when a prop gun Baldwin was holding fired a live round of ammunition, striking her in the chest and wounding director Joel Souza in the shoulder.

First off, I freakin' hate the media.  Because they skew stuff so bad.  It wasn't a prop gun.  It was a real gun.  Sure, it may have meant to be used as a prop, but you can't call the real thing a prop in my book.  A prop is something that is fake.
1. A woman died when a prop gun Baldwin was holding fired.

Or

2. Baldwin fired a gun and killed a woman.

I wouldn't expect a dipshit to inspect a gun, but then again I wouldn't hand a gun to a dipshit.

You ALWAYS inspect the gun. ALWAYS.
