Harvesting is certainly a thing, of some size, in cities at least.  I don't know how to prevent it.  Collectors go to old folks homes and collect.  The old folks get absentee ballots which are authentic.  The old folk probably has a way to authenticate the ballot, and the "helpful" collector tells them they can do the rest for them.

But I still think it is rare that an individual shows up to vote who isn't real and registered.

That’s a tough nut to crack. That industry in terms of how it operates is so smoothly capitalistic. It responds super efficiently to consumer demand, and consumer demand by and large does not make for clearheaded coverage.

Just remove the financial incentive to provide news.  Or forbid "news" channels to have commentary.  Just boring reporting of the news.  Not inhibiting free speech, just requiring anything labeled "news" to provide nothing but news.  Actual journalism.  Reporting of facts with proof/evidence.  No op-eds.  

Get the greedy fucks out of the business.  

MSNBC:  12 people died in an explosion yesterday, in Kabul.
FOXNews:  12 people died in an explosion yesterday, in Kabul.
CNN:  please watch us 12 people died in an explosion yesterday, in Kabul.

You can only fix the news channels if you make each one irrelevant.  No reason to watch any particular one, nor avoid any one.  Don't even measure the ratings.  Make that irrelevant.  No commercials.  Boring, factual, actual news.
