What are these people voting on?  If a candidate can literally be the opposite of everything you want him to be, is there any point where they don't vote for him?!?  I see no valid reasoning here.  What am I missing??
My overly simple model is that ~40% vote Dem no matter what and 40% vot Rep no matter what.  They support their party the way we support our team.  The 20% in the middle decide outcomes (along with turnout), and about half of that 20% doesn't pay much attention to current events.

I personally can't think of an elected official at the Federal level I admire and respect.  I tend to think we'd be better off with the first thousand names in the Boston phone book.

SITE OF THE DAY:

Behind The Curtain
We are combining the data we've been collecting on corporate lobbying, congressional stock trading, and proposed legislation in order to allow you to track what is going on behind the scenes in Washington, D.C. You can use this tool to see which bills are being considered by Congress, which publicly traded companies are lobbying on those bills, and which congressmen have traded stock in those companies.

Well, no vote has occurred yet, and most polls over the past decade have proven to be shams.

What are you missing? Easy answer to that. It's not about who people vote for. It's about who they vote against.

The polls I've seen for GA elections over the past decade have been pretty accurate for whatever reason.  That doesn't mean this poll is close of course, but name recognition alone is a factor in elections.  And I agree, voting for the perceived LOTE is often a major factor considered the candidates we often see on the ballot.

My guess is most freshman Senators vote party line anyway.  So, even a bad candidate in YOUr party is going to vote mostly how you want him or her to.

at least he knows not to look for dead people in his audience

Probably doesn't think that men can get pregnant either. So that elevates him to a much higher plane of intelligence than an entire political party.

I think this is a very minority point of view by some very PC folks who don't want to state the obvious.  It's not at all the view of an entire political party.

Then those that don't believe that need to be more vocal and take their party back from the nutjobs.

I suspect "they" don't see a need to correct every outlandish thing some kook says, much as Republicans often don't see a need to rebut something an extremist associated with their party has said.  For one thing, it calls attention to it, and for another, it would be nonstop.  And of course it affords good grist for Fox News to highlight (or MSNBC in reverse).

Many news outlets to me seem to be almost entirely focused on what silliness someone in the other party  may have done.

he's a celebrity and legend in the state. enough said. I think most 'Mericans vote for people they like, and that's pretty much it. How you think Arnie got elected governor of California and Trump elected as President. If they weren't celebs neither would've won. Same thing going on here for Walker- only reason he's in the race.

I'd vote for my cat if it would ensure GOP control of the Senate
