why prefer comedies

I know they are just silliness
Comedies are cool too.  But I genuinely like a good, unrealistic action movie.  Top Gun 2 was great, despite any incongruence with reality.

Of course I've always been a huge fan of fantasy and sci-fi genres, so I've never been particularly concerned with realism in my entertainment, anyway.

When I watch a movie the last thing I want to see is true to life crap

I want to escape my real world and go on whatever journey of imagination the movie takes me on be it a comedy action or sci fi just entertain me and take me away from my reality

If I want to see true life I'll go sit on a street corner somewhere

I think realism in a movie is often important in separating an entertaining movie from a really really good movie.  I don't expect it, but it can happen.

My list of best movies is highly realistic, like "Aliens" and "Predator" and "Coming to America Two" ...

I keep reminding myself I kept a fair bit liquid, but the numbers look pretty dismal anyway.

My one preference for "realistic" is horror movies.  Not that I hate horror movies with unrealistic / supernatural bad guys or anything, it's just I really prefer horror movies where the heroes all make smart, informed decisions and still get eaten / killed.

Misery, Green Room, Psycho, Silence of the Lambs, Open Water, Jaws, The Road, Strangers, and The Hitcher are all great movies that I love and fairly realistic.

Even if you want to throw some supernatural in there, The Thing, Alien, 28 Days Later, and The Conjuring also somewhat fall into that category.

I saw previews for a couple movies suggesting climate change would raise sea levels by hundreds of feet.
It has, and will again.  But in a long-term way.  The "liberty" a movie like "The Day After Tomorrow" takes is that the climate changes too quickly, with all their scientific models being off.

You guys should watch the "Cinema Sins" video on that movie, you'll get a laugh out of it.  Same with "2021."

The beautiful thing about this view is that no one can prove you wrong

It wont happen during my lifetime but way in the future

We know sea levels have risen in prehistory, and fallen, by a lot, but not due to man's contributions obviously.  That isn't the misleading unrealistic aspect of these movies.

I see folks asking why Obama bought near sea level property if he believes in CC.

But some folks really appear to believe the oceans would experience a major rise in their  lifetimes if we don't "do something", and by major I mean tens of feet.

Blues Brothers is a fav movie of mine, but near the end when the cars go flying off the end of the unfinished overpass and appear to fall thousands of feet, it bothers me as unrealistic.

why exaggerate to that degree?  Why not make it a few hundred feet fall?

and it's obviously a comedy
