My first exposure to Hooter's was a family trip to a variety of places in the Mid-Atlantic and DC, and we ate at one in Fairfax, VA (I was about 19).  I remember they brought a pitcher of cold beer with a bag of ice, or maybe the pitcher had one of those ice reservoirs.   I remember my parents and older brother (we were all WI residents) being very confused.     What's this for? we asked.   "That helps keep the beer cold, longer."  the helpful waitress says.   Still confused.   Why would we take that long to drink a pitcher of beer, we wondered.

The Biden administration’s plan to cancel up to $20,000 in student debt isn’t limited to borrowers seeking relief on loans the government already owns.

Roughly $110 billion in older “privately” held student loans created under the now defunct Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFEL) also could qualify, even through they aren’t directly eligible for debt relief under President Biden’s plan, a person with direct knowledge of the matter told MarketWatch.

As long as they meet the income criteria for the debt relief plan, borrowers with FFEL loans held outside of the government’s reach, including those packaged years ago into bond deals, can be consolidated into a new federal “direct loan” to qualify for cancellation, according to the Department.

If borrowers with these loans take the government up on its offer to consolidate to receive the debt relief, it also could mean an unexpected deluge of payments to bonds that benefit investors.

Who owns student loans
Like in the mortgage market, the U.S. government for decades has been the dominant player in financing student loans.

With the Education Department’s roughly $1.1 trillion stake, the federal government owns everything but a tiny slice (see chart) of the overall $1.6 trillion student loan pie.

We'd go to Hooters' trivia night in Gainesville.  The breaded wings were good, but you couldn't eat an obscene number of them, or you'd die.

My HS football team would go to Calico Jack's AYCE wings.....caribbean sauce......I'd routinely eat 50+ wings each time.

I buddy and I would finish off the 50 wing platter at Hooters back in the 90's (25 each)

breaded with the jalapeno bits and plenty of curly fries

I was early 30's instead of 60

Apologies if I can't remember but were you on the cnn/si boards?  We've had so many homes over the years I can't keep up with who was on what board other than a few people.

It occurred to me the other day that it's been well over 20 years since I started posting on those boards.  Time truly does fly!

Fearless was on those CNN boards.

I was not.

We (CFN) inherited all you knuckleheads in 2005, around Thanksgiving.

Thankfully.

I think Hooky was the first one to come over. The pied piper, so to speak.

Yeah it was probably Hooky/JCG/OldBull/Slick/SamsungSoonert/RattlesnakeLover (I forget who his actual Husker-loving pseud was) who came over and found y'all first.

Many of us cnn/si folks were hanging out at WorldCrossing, and then the board that WingedHelmet (Michigan fan, obviously) put together.

It's been so many years and so many boards, I don't even remember who's here now, that was original to the cnn/si boards.  I remember Gigem and FearlessFrankie, and of course who could ever forget the Husker Prick Squad (although they didn't follow us here.  Maybe a few hung out at Worldcrossing an Wingy's board?).

The last board I was on before this one was Dustin R's old board.  When it went poof I didn't know where everybody went (i was never on CFN).  I did a search one day, tried different things.  College football message board, alamo message board, etc.  I even tried looking up utee94.  No luck.  Then, in a last ditch attempt, I looked up Hooky Hornstein and this is the first thing that popped up!
