With 12 teams I think there will be a lot of variety.  Right now it's pretty much the same ol' teams.  Alabama, Ohio State, George, OU.  Sure a MSU and UM have gotten in, but every now and then we'll have an Oklahoma State, UCLA, Baylor, A&M.  There are a lot of great ball teams at the end of the year that were spurned because of losses in the early part of the season.  
Even if you have 4 SEC and 4 B1G you will still have room for 4 of the Big 12, ACC, PAC, and maybe a G5 here or there.  Most years the result will be the same, but not always.

we'll learn to avoid watching the beatdowns

but, if an upset happens it'll be like March madness, until the 2nd round

At least you’ll be giving them a chance to compete. Because right now there is a pretty large contingent of CFB that is locked out. You have to have a perfect season unless you are ND, Ohio St, or in that blue blood list. And even then think about the teams over the years that deserved to play in any kind of playoff. 2004 Auburn, 2008 Texas, 2013 Alabama.

well, the top 4 get a bye, so............

a week to rest up and wait for the 5 vs 12 and 6 vs 11 and 7 vs 10 matchups to beat each other up

so, it's a 4 team playoff with a few others to beat each other up before a shot to knock off one of the top 4

and it'll be fun when one or possibly even two of the top 4 get knocked off

you mean one out of the top 4?
it won't be nearly fun enough until a 10 or 11 pulls an upset over a top 4
and eventually it will happen

I think in the past, the difference between 4 and 5,6,7 has been pretty slight, arguably at times reversed, so yes, I expect 4 to get upset nearly half the time, and 3 to get upset perhaps a third of the time.  And upsets happen even when seeding is correct.  And this adds one more tough game the eventual NC team has to win even if they are top four.  I doubt bottom 8 wins it very often, maybe once a decade or so.

I'd say this means UGA doesn't win the NC (probably).  They could win games 1 and 2.  They did beat Bama so maybe game 3, maybe.
