I can assure you, there was no outrage in my post

There is plenty of failure to endorse the policy

The problem is that it doesn't actually help people who are going to contribute to the economy.  It actually just appeases both bases.  The left is happy because it isn't funded by entitlement programs, while bailing out art history and music theory majors.  The right is happy because trust fund babies who never had to take out a loan don't have to contribute.  It just harms white collar workers with student debt, who wont get relief, and whose rates, if not locked in, while certainly rise.  The actual economic base.  But that's American politics now, appeal to the fringes, get the votes, while destroying the republic.

as long as the rumor is NOT true about lending institutions buying up federal student loans and refinancing them are going to have that debt forgiven

Ahh, the biblical approach, good thinking.

(This is not a policy I endorse, though I am also impressed at the work folks do to muster outrage over it. Sign of our times, I suppose)

Student loans and the subsequent forgiveness isn’t the solution, it’s the problem.

Well, this mindset doesn't make any sense.  But the argument that treating the result, rather than the cause, just kicks the can down the road, is problematic.

I think I was pretty straight forward in my view just what does not make sense? Both my kids worked hard to get through college and were fortunate to have parents with the ability to help them

My daughter did get a student loan for law school and she paid back every nickel

these babies today are no better then we were

all Biden is doing is spending our money for votes and thats crap

I'm actually against this, but the argument that because I had to suffer through it, someone else ought to as well, is very anti-American

It was not a matter of suffering.  It was a matter of being responsible for my actions.  In addition they want to bail these folks out using my money.  I would be willing to bet the American people are against this but wont get the chance to vote on it.

again meeting ones obligations is not a matter of suffering

Disagreement isn't always outrage, you know.
Absolutely, and I would say, Fearless didn’t read as outraged. Apologies if it came across that way.

But it does seem to get some folks quite worked up. (Not saying you either utee)

It's actually very American....and that's the problem.  Most people can't see past their own experiences and if they don't get something nice, then no one else should, either.  Same with getting something good - as long as they get in the door, they have no problem closing it behind them.

I find it one of the rare times an intellectually sad instance coincides with an ethically sad instance.  A double-whammy that people like longhorn will defend to his last breath.

God bless America.

if it's a great idea, why not just eliminate all the debt in the US?

just wipe the slate clean and start from scratch
We're going to have to do that with China someday. There's no paying that debt, ever.

I don't understand how this is legal if $300 billion is the price tag, I really don't.  Hopefully it gets tied up in court.
