just another way to bypass congress and push the green agenda
How many consecutive years of record temps would be enough for you to give a shit?  How many western states have to be on fire?  1 more?  10 more?
Climate change naysayers are akin to the mouth-breathers demanding a missing link to prove evolution, while ignoring the numerous transitional hominid forms that existed over the last few million years.
You require a tipping point that can't be reversed in order to even acknowledge the reality of the situation.  You require your boat to be completely sunk in order to admit there's a leak in the hull.

yes, declaring an emergency is easy, doing something substantial is another

Canes get the #1 seed because of NFL talent?  OAM will love this list
Well especially with that team, I'm not sure why people credit the backups that didn't even really play in the 2001 season.  It's just so stupid.

Anyway, on that little bracket, it's funny - the only team I'd pick to beat 19 LSU isn't even on it.  You can score on that Tiger team - any NC could.  But you'd need maybe the best pass defense ever....which is 2011 Alabama's.  Don't see them on the bracket, so I don't see anyone else to pick.

giving a shit or 10 won't save the planet

what would you propose the President do on Wednesday?

lockdown the entire country except for essential workers?
ban watering the lawn and golf course?
ration gasoline?
ban air conditioning ??

ground all fights?
shutdown all coal plants?

It's fine to worry about CC, I do myself, but the hard bottom line reality is the "we" globally are NOT going to do nearly enough to stop it.

My real hope is that the models are wrong, and not in the bad way.

This idea the US can spend money to do "something" will make more than a tenth of a degree difference is just technically incorrect.  We're behind the curve already.  This is why you never see a realistic PLAN to make a real change.  There isn't one.

The planet isn't at risk, lol.  Our cushy way of life is.
Maybe having giant cities in the desert isn't a good plan.
Maybe shrugging and just giving up isn't a good plan.

When we find a Texas-sized asteroid headed for earth, we should just shrug and give up, right?

Pretty much, with current technology, unless we found it really really early, like 20 years ahead of time.

There simply is not much we can do practicably to combat climate change in the US.  A small nudge at best, at considerable cost.

The numbers are inexorable.

maybe, but there's not a good plan to move everyone out of Arizona and Nevada
or even New Orleans - which seems to have issues with the climate from time to time

Just another example of the smartest animal not living in balance with nature, as all other animals do.  Just do what's most comfortable and ignore the long-term effects.....just like a corporation needing perpetual growth every quarter.
Asinine.

If that many can move in, that many can move out.

If we can put that much carbon in the air, we can do the opposite, if it's a priority.
.
Sorry, I can't fall in with the plan of purposely causing a major problem and then shrugging that the fix costs too much.

It may be asinine, and it's far from ideal, but it's not going to change meaningfully no matter how much one complains.  You need some kind of outline of a rough draft of a plan to change a thing.  We don't have one.

You seem to think these things are easy.  Lay out some sort of plan for us then.

It's laughable naivete'.

Why is it up to me to formulate a plan to fix someone else's asinine problem?  Because I noticed the problem?

How long did it take the Soviets to empty Pripyat?  Don't know, but they did it.  If we could run all the natives off their lands, we can gradually empty desert cities.  I don't recall saying it would be easy.  It wouldn't be quick.

Speeding towards a cliff and keeping your foot on the gas pedal is 'laughable naivete.'  Applying the brakes isn't.

well, you moved to the desert

you should have noticed before the move, now you're part of the problem

Plenty of folks living in Zona that think there's a problem, but continue to live there
