In France I could order a beer as the drink of choice to go with a Happy Meal.  I did this regularly, because I thought it was amusing.
A cold beer to wash down a royale with cheese? Sign me up.

It's always going to come down to taste preference, which tends to be developed regionally.

Personally, I prefer flavors and dishes from the Far East, over the Middle East.  Traditional Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Thai.  I love all of them.  And you can find plenty of excellent examples of those down here in Texico, especially in Austin and Houston.
I love the Far East food as well. I just love good food period lol. I'm a true fat ass.

Middle Eastern food just tends to be much cleaner to me. Aside from Sushi, seems like a lot of the Asian food really screws up my stomach. I don't know if it's because a lot of it is all fried and greasy and spicy or what it is. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love it, but it really just wrecks me.

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway invested another $250 million in Occidental Petroleum this week.
Buffett's company now commands a 19.2% stake, valued at north of $10 billion.
If Berkshire clears 20%, it can include a share of Occidental's profits in its own earnings.

shocking.... I'm STILL guessing the oil companies will report highest earnings in history

Oil prices have fallen to levels not seen since before the war in Ukraine began as the market weighs a recession threat in the face of the highest U.S. inflation rate in decades.

Benchmark Brent crude fell as much as 6% to trade briefly below $95 per barrel on Thursday. Brent closed at $96.84 just before Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24. Prices then soared to as high as $139 as markets reckoned with the fallout from the conflict.

West Texas Intermediate, the main benchmark for North America, traded as low as $90.56 per barrel. Just a week ago, WTI closed at $102.63 per barrel.

I'm sure gasoline will be back down to $2.77 soon like it was on Feb 22, 2022

And a block away, two long time restaurants are, well, gone.  This was "Joe's on Juniper", which was a locally famous gay bar place.  We dined there on two occasions, it wasn't notably "gay", just bar food.

And next door was another place that had a nice patio, a notch above bar food, fairly decent, called Einsteins.  There are some 60 year old oak trees about to be whooshed also in the name of progress.

No, Millions of Cars Are Not Catching Fire Every Year (caranddriver.com)

This is really absurd, any decent editor should have pushed back on this story, hard.  If one in twenty cars caught fire each year, well, do the math.

Last month, the New York Times ran a story about EV safety and car fires that caught our eye over here at the C/D Department of Fishy Assertions. Titled "Hurdle to Broad Adoption of EVs: The Misperception That They're Unsafe," it argues that electric cars catch fire less often than conventional internal-combustion cars or hybrids. It reads, in part:
Quote
AutoInsuranceEZ studied the frequency of fires—from all causes, including collisions—in automobiles in 2021. It found that hybrid vehicles, which have an internal combustion engine and an electric motor, had the most fires per 100,000 vehicles (3475), while vehicles with just an internal combustion engine placed second (1530 per 100,000). Fully electric vehicles had the fewest: 25 per 100,000. These findings were based on data from the National Transportation Safety Board and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.

I think Newsom basically is running for a higher office.

He's going to "look into it", this lack of transparency, because you know, programs should come out in public each time they consider such a move.

Has a governor who faced a recall ever been elected POTUS?

He got 60% support in favor of retention in a state where #46 got almost 64%.
