You're supposed to live somewhere 6 months and a day, and get the DL and register to vote etc.  Nobody really checks of course, I had to show a bill to get my DL here.

But if you have no income, the only concerns are property and other taxes (which in NJ are bad).

They might if they had no income.  Pick a state, another state, and I'll run it.  We'll go with Texas and no income tax.

$4.735 million.  That is a lot more than paying a low interest loan.

my only point was its not gonna be $7 million closer to $4 million

this works great for year 1 year 2 and maybe year 3 but at some point you will have to belly up to the bar

its a short term deal

and then after paying off the interest you will still need to incur a $4 million tax bill for every year you did it

They won't let me give blood anymore. The burnt orange color scares the hell out of the doctors.

It works for one's lifetime, which is why it's so popular.  There is no limit, short of a serious margin call, for billionaires.  And they might well clear the books every decade or so, I don't know.  I'm sure it varies, Musk sold a lot of Tesla this past year.

Obviously in recent history companies like Tesla pretty much went up in value with a few bumps so it really made sense.  That may not always happen.

My step son has a photo of him and Steve Wozniak.  I imagine Steve is sitting on a massive haul at near zero cost basis living in CA.

Years ago I tried to calculate how much money AT I'd need a year to live a life I'd do had I the money, presuming I had whatever capital items already bought.  I came up with $20 million, it'd probably be 30 today.

One item I'd like is a personal daily chef, at least for dinner.  I'd have a secretary to take care of whatever I wanted to do.  I'd have a couple homes somewhere which would cost money to maintain no doubt a lot.  A personal trainer a few times a week.  Golf club membership somewhere swanky.  It adds up, especially when you pay people.

The thing is, I'm not sure I'd be any happier than I am.  I guess I could try it ...

I'm sure I'd have more expensive wine, but I get a kick out of finding a great wine value at Costco.

94 - there's like 4 places from Texas on that list and I call BS :017: . I'll give you Texicans the low/slow "Q" Market, but there are plenty of free ranging cattle farms here - many are Amish, where the grass is actually green from the cooler climes close to the Great Lakes. I know there is a Heck's Cafe in Cleveland since the early 50's and they buy their beef from such places. If I was facing the firing Squad tomorrow - I'd order as many of those as i could stuff down my gullet ;D .Wait until FF sees there are no Iowa joints on that list either. :-[

Since I know CD loves lists, here's a list of the 30 best burgers in the US.

I've had exactly one of these burgers, and it was indeed very, very tasty.

Sure I have lots of recs.  When are you coming?  What kind of foods do you like?  Anything specific you want to try? What part of town are you staying in and how far away are you willing/able to go, for meals?

Wait, do you know something I don't about my employment status?

Hey, take it up with the listmakers, I just posted the darn thing! :)

I will say that the one out of four Texas places on the list that I've tried, Chris Madrid's in San Antonio, makes a delicious burger.

Richest People in the World......................................

5. Warren Buffett (U.S.)

CEO, Berkshire Hathaway

Age: 91
Net worth: $118 billion

A new tax?
Buffett has said he believes America's wealthiest should pay more in taxes. There are almost 30,000 families in the U.S. with assets of more than $100 million, Buffett's among them.

A newly proposed tax would also hit America's roughly 700 billionaires; these households would be subject to a new minimum tax of 20%, ensuring they don't pay lower tax rates than many lower- and middle-income Americans.
