Why is there a big Creighton University building in downtown Phoenix?  Have I asked this already?

Creighton is the state’s only Catholic-based school for higher learning in medicine.

“Creighton is known for producing health professionals committed to the Jesuit value of caring for the whole patient—mind, body and spirit. Our graduates then go on to careers in which service for and with others is central to their practices,” noted Todero,

“We’re training to care about people. It’s not a job, it’s a vocation, and we really believe it’s a ministry – the ministry of Jesus Christ to care for others and their needs,” said Fr. Kevin Dilworth, SJ, chaplain of Creighton’s Phoenix regional campus, at the September 2019 event.

“I’m so grateful to God for this Catholic University coming to be part of the city of Phoenix and the state of Arizona,” Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted told the gathering that day. “We trust the Jesus who came not only to heal souls and bring redemption but also to heal bodies is very near with us today.”

Well he saw how a moderate democrat was treated by republicans for 8 years, right up close.  Same shit, no matter what he'd do.
.
It's sort of a "ha-ha" for both sides:  the left thought Bush was bad/incompetent.....until Trump showed up.
The right thought Obama was bad...until Biden won.
.
You all deserve each other.
I think Joe Biden and progressive don't belong in the same sentence. I respect HB a lot, but think he's off there insinuating that Biden is any kind of a progressive. He's not.

Obama was basically a Republican. His healthcare plan was basically a nationwide rip off of a plan thought up by the Heritage Foundation (a Republican think tank) and implemented in the state of Massachusetts by a Republican governor (Mitt Romney and RomneyCare). Obama was a tool of Wall Street- he raised more money from Wall Street than any candidate in history and his first cabinet was basically hand-picked by Citibank. Obama was also a massive schill for the intelligence/military industrial complex. He expanded the security state and spying apparatus to levels Bush II could only wet dream of. Obama also went after more journalists and whistleblowers than every President before him combined. WikiLeaks released a leaked white paper written by the CIA in 2009 or 2010 I want to say- about how Obama was basically a god send for the CIA in terms of messaging and selling US wars of empire around the world. Read it a long time ago. But I'll find it and link the document if you care to read it.

Bush II was bad/incompetent, and it's kind of a joke to me for you to even begin to compare Trump to him and insinuate that Trump was actually worse or more incompetent. He wasn't. Trump was INFINITELY better than Bush II by any objective measure. It's not even close, really.

Trump was actually great for this country in that he put an ugly face on the empire. He actually told the truth about US empire at times and showed it for what it was. That's probably why the stenographers and propagandists in the media hated him so much.

Obama was pretty bad. But I'd take him any day over Biden. Biden is one of the worst Presidents in US history. You can put him right up there with Jimmy Carter and Bush II. Complete f***king disaster.

US absolutely deserves what it gets- because it has one of the dumbest and most propagandized populations on planet earth and the people won't actually band together to change things. We'll just go on playing Team Blue v. Team Red forever and buying all the bullsh*t WWE-like political theater.

W was made fun of for being a doofus.  Trump is a stupid person.  He doesn't read.  He doesn't listen.  He is unreasonable.  Selfish.  Unethical.  No, I don't think he'd score over 90 on an IQ test.  No, I don't think he'd piss on a kid that was on fire that wasn't his own, and even then, it's only a maybe.  I honestly don't care in what twisted ways someone wants to compliment his presidency.
.
He's a garbage human being in every conceivable way.

I have not been impressed with any of our leaders for ... a long time.  They promise a lot and when they get in office actually very little of consequence gets passed legislatively.

You still have Obama. He's behind the curtain.

90% of the people in the current "administration" worked for Obama. The house is not clean.

Creighton University is building a new health sciences campus in Phoenix is welcome news not only to patients but the profession and those who plan a career in medicine.

“The need for health care workers in the Southwest was already well-documented before the pandemic hit,” stated Catherine Todero, Ph.D., vice provost of Health Sciences Campuses for Creighton and dean of the College of Nursing, in an email. “Many professions are experiencing major retirement cycles, and the stress of COVID-19 may accelerate that phenomenon. Creighton’s new campus will provide much-needed capacity for health care education for the entire Southwest area,” Todero continued.

Founded by Jesuits in 1878, Creighton is one of 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States today and is attended by more than 8,000 students, according to its website.

I think Obama is pretty much enjoying his retirement, with the occasional adoring fan showing up, and very occasional speech for hire.

If one lists the major pieces of actual legislation he or any of the recents got done, it's not much.  I know they have influence otherwise, but legislation is lasting.  The reviled Bush tax cuts largely survived Obama with a modest change at the top, and the Trump tax cuts are still extant.  Such things are pretty easy to change because you can use reconciliation.

I was wondering how much of St. Pete's economy was based on tourism, probably a fair bit, and now it's near zero.  That probably hurts the little guy some.
