Was that this case for this last incident?
I dont know.   It has been in past circumstances- prominently.
Big pharm has a big grip on corporate media and politicians.  They buy what they please.  Covid vax is an example of the control.... this was a discussion once and the argument was compelling- exceptionally compelling... and then it disappeared.

Feeding the body drugs to alter states of personality is damn dangerous especially when that runs out.  Weird shot happens. I bet we've all seen it with people we know but maybe didn't put it together.  The number of people on some psychotic drug or another is stupifying... I wager a good percentage of people here are popping those pills amd not thinking twice about it.  And yeah- thats a fuse on a bomb.

Domestic Mass Shooters: The Association With Unmedicated and Untreated Psychiatric Illness - PubMed (nih.gov)

Is there a link between psychotropic drugs and mass shootings? | wusa9.com

PolitiFact | What’s behind the dubious claim that psychiatric drugs fuel mass shootings?

As with everything, I can't be sure of these sources obviously.  I can't be sure otherwise either, it is an Internet "rumor" that there is a correlation.  I know some find Politifact and its relatives to be unreliable.

Circa likely 2012 perhaps, there was data released and a discussion about the correlation.  Now? Crickets.

I love how politifact injects "dubious" into the headline.  Theyre cooking the sentiment before it can be investigated reasonably, and which is indication of the manipulation we see everywhere and constant.

Edited to add: there was an issue with personal health records being available even after someone passes which was a sticking point with fair discussion iirc.  Much of the "data" was collected from shooters family or those close to them responding that they were on some psychotic drug or another.

We do know that as a lobby, Big Pharm spends more in one month than the NRA does in multiple years.

i love how my previous point was ignored just like it is in society....

mind altering pharmaceuticals, prescribed by a doctor, are a factor in almost every one of these incidents.  it is the exception for it not to be.
I think this has a lot to do with it as well.

We have a serious mental health problem in this country, and handing out mind-altering pharmaceutical drugs like they are skittles probably isn't the answer.

But that is not the point. The point is that some people want to claim that a person is an adult at the age of 18 yet deny them basic rights and privilages aforded to adults. We can't have it both ways.
I don’t have much interest in raising the age, but this equivalency strikes me as a bit of a stretch.

We deny 18 year olds beer. We also deny them tank driving and grenade throwing. The idea that before a given age, you need to operate firearms under supervision and after training seems like not all that much of a stretch.

Not saying they should, but I don’t see as much dissonance there.

there might be a TON of support for term limits, but not by the folks that have the power to make a change

I received my first rifle at 12 years old at Christmas,  a Marlin Model 60 Glenfield .22 caliber semi-auto. I learned how to operate it properly, clean it and safely stow it away. I also learned to respect it and the power that it would have to take a life. I also was taught that until I had demonstrated the maturaty to respect the rifle and all other weapons, I would not be able to use the rifle unattended.

Making a law that so broad is never the answer. And limiting adults to what they can or cannot poses does nothing to deter criminals, intent upon evil acts, from breaking those laws. More laws are not the answer. The government doesn't enforce the ones already on the books, what makes anyone think they will any different with more laws?

Sure, folks pine for it all the time, but it won't happen for obvious reasons, so why view it as some solution?

I really hate that attitude/way of thinking. Like we the people should just accept the sh*t hand we are dealt, just because? That nothing can or will ever change? F**k. That.

The power is in the hands of the people. If we want change, we can stop electing the same motherf**ker do-nothing corrupt career politicians. Where is the will of the people for change? Labor movement and grass roots political movements have been completely neutered and knee capped. I don't know if it's because consolidation of mass media (5 or 6 multi-national conglomerates own/control 95+% of all media in US), degradation of the culture, people just being stuck and enslaved in the rat race trying to make ends meet so they don't pay attention, or probably some combo of it all.

WE the people deserve better. And we can get better anytime we decide to stand up, unite, and fight these c*ck suckers in DC tooth and nail.
