Has anyone read anything decent on the impact of Brexit anywhere?  They had the pound before and after, currency is a major thing.  I guess the rest was trade and tariff stuff, and immigration rights?  Has the impact on GB&NI been severe, or over stated and mildish?

I know the pound has been pounded in the exchange markets.

The dollar has been fairly strong though, and I'm not sure that augers particularly well for our economy.

To buy or own any semiautomatic weapon with detachable magazine, one would have to be licensed, something akin to getting a car license, training in use, safety, maintenance, and LEGAL aspects, as well as evaluation of one's psyche by the trainers.  (No, they wouldn't catch everyone.)

With such a license, you could carry everywhere in the US not restricted by manned magnetometers, no "gun free zones" at all, unless so monitored.

Concealed, open carry, the whole nine yards, in a school if you wanted.

Revolvers, bolt action, pumps, etc. would be same as today.  I like stop and frisk for crime prevention, but am not sure about legality.
Your proposal regarding Semi Auto weapons would affect more than half of the weapons already legally owned and would be in direct violation of the 2nd Amendment. Won't happen.

I think it should be raised to 21.

Can't buy cigarettes or beer until you're 21. Why can you buy a gun?

I also feel like voting age and military enlistment age should be 21 as well.
Then we should also change the minimum age for military service to 21 also. If we cannot trust an 18-20 year old to buy a or own a gun, how can we trust them with driving tanks, operating machine guns or throwing hand grenades?

Most of them do reasonably well at it with decent training and leadership.  By 21, folks have largely "moved on" if they never enlisted.

But that is not the point. The point is that some people want to claim that a person is an adult at the age of 18 yet deny them basic rights and privilages aforded to adults. We can't have it both ways.

Juveniles need decent training and leadership

obviously some aren't getting that from 18-21

in the military they have it
"Courage; Generosity; Fairness; Honor; In these are the true awards of manly sport."

The major problem "nobody" likes to talk about is that none of these proposals will keep guns out of the hands of gangs, etc. They are gonna get them no matter what, just like they do today.

Look at the gun laws in Chicago.

Need I say more?

Yeah, that's what I said....it should be changed to 21. All of it.

An 18 year old is still an immature snot nosed teenage punk who cannot possibly think rationally as the prefrontal cortex is not yet developed- it's still in "teenager mode". The male human body continues to develop until 20-22 and the prefrontal cortex does not fully develop until around age 25.

Snot nosed 18 year old kids should NOT be able to buy alcohol, marijuana or cigarettes, vote, own firearms, or enlist in the military. If you want to say they can enlist in the military at 18 and start getting training that's fine- but they should NOT be sent into combat or conflict zones until they are 21.

18 year olds are not adults. I think age 18 is when drivers licenses should be allowed- and that's basically it. Start them on the drivers permit at 16, let them get the full drivers license at 18- and yeah that's about it in terms of all the legal rights or privileges an 18 year older should have. An 18 year old is not an adult.

I have no issue with the general concept of various rights being accorded at different ages.

An 18 year old is not an adult, imo.

I was shocked to see how basic training at Camp Pendleton changed our son. Turned him into a man in 3 months.

Something not discussed... painfully not discussed... is the role of mind altering pharmaceutical industry pushed drugs in these cases.

I've read where all but one "mass" shooting was done by a shooter who either was or had been on illegal or mind altering drugs.  That was some time ago, and not recently.

I wonder of its still a major similarity.  I bet it is.

Yeah, me too.  My son was pretty decent going in, but clearly different coming out, much more focused, rational, and motivated to DO something.  He and I woke pretty early in our motel room the day after graduation and chatted for a while and he said "Dad, I have to DO something."  He was unused to having any idle time, so we walked.  A bit.  Quite a bit.

I think "it" does a world of good for most 18 year olds, though the initial shock is pretty significant for them.
