You can say that every 30 years.
Let's go back to living in caves and hunting and gathering!
Not really.

The 60's were kinda shitty. Nuke crisis, great president killed, cold war, Vietnam, dumbasses protesting everything.

The 30's had a bit of a financial problem that gave us a terrible new deal.

I can keep going.

Great day on the water yesterday. Went to some places we've not been to, due to unfamiliar waters. But one of my friends was with and he is familiar, so now I am also familiar.

These waters can get a little dicey down here. You absolutely must follow the markers or you would be screwed, big time.

The chartplotter on my boat looks like this when underway:

Must keep an eye on that, but also on the markers. Going by the numbers is huge. Sand bars are everywhere.

Great fishing there.
over here- in and around the inlets/ the tow boats make a great living.  Probably even better over there.

I heard 6 calls for Tow Boat US yesterday, so yeah, for sure. There were probably more I didn't hear while exploring the island and having lunch.

And the tide was super high yesterday too. Never seen it so high, to be honest.

King tides they're called.  We're having them here too.  King tide in a full moons high tide puts docks under water.

Sand bars are a big threat here.  You gotta know... and not all markers can be trusted.  The sand shifts so quickly, especially on a strong tide.  Bogue inlet, Beaufort inlet, browns inlet.... theyre all tricky,  and then there are the bad ones.  On the sound where I live there are square miles of open water, and it's never more than a couple feet deep making it an issue for out of town clowns that can't read a chart.

Sea tow does very well around here.

That right there is why I almost never head out on certain waters in Ontario without a guide.  Rocks can end your day really quickly.      Stay safe dudes.

We were boating today (Indiana) and hazards today were birds.  So many goslings and ducklings.

Your 60s list are just stressors that didn't affect a person's day-to-day life.  A person in 1965 was MUCH better off than in 1935 (with or without the Great Depression).
Citing something called "The Great Depression" is a great use of "yeah, but" and choosing a singular exception to an otherwise mundane claim.  People in 30  years will be much better off than we are now.  This isn't really something up for debate, but here we are....

My Dad told me he never noticed the Great Depression, he was born in 1917.  It was all the same to him, depressed.

He was born in a house with no electricity, life then was not that much different from life in 1600.

We visited a number of museums on our trip and were reminded of the Plague, cholera outbreaks, war, naval bombardments (the British bombarded Copenhagen seriously in 1807), more war, (the Germans attacked in 1867 and took a third of their land), more war, the Swedes attacked I forget when and took their northern lands, life expectancy was not good.

Any time something bad happens, people tend to shit on Steven Pinker's statement that "now" is always the best time to ever be alive, that our world is getting better over time, etc.
You'll hear this idea echoed by older black people - no matter how attacked or victimized they feel today, it's still much better than it was 30 years ago or 50 years ago or whatever time span you want.
.
No, it's not a smooth line, but it's just like a stock price trending up over human history - lots of tiny ups and downs, all the while trending up.  That's all the idea is - our lives, as a whole, on the average, trend up as time goes by.
.
Another seemingly innocuous (to me) idea that somehow gets pushback here on this board.
