Texas Department of Public Safety official said responding officers were cautious as they entered Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas because “they could’ve been shot.”

Nineteen children and two teachers were murdered after authorities say an 18-year-old male entered with a rifle 12 minutes after he crashed a car near campus.

The New York Times reported the shooter was inside the school for about an hour before officers finally breached the classroom he was in and shot and killed him.

Reporters demanded answers during a contentious press conference Thursday afternoon. State law enforcement officials addressed the public a day after some parents with children in the school said they were prevented from going in by officers.

One girl inside the room reportedly bled for an hour after she was shot. She died at a hospital. It is unknown if that hour might have saved her life.

On Thursday’s The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, the host discussed the Tuesday’s horrifying events with DPS Lt. Chris Olivarez.

Blitzer asked his guest if officers at the scene made the correct choice to wait for a tactical team before they went after the gunman.

Olivarez said officers were inside the school quickly, and they heard gunfire when they arrived. They called for reinforcements, he said. The officers in the building waited for a special tactical team to show up as they isolated the shooter to one classroom.

“Don’t current best practices, don’t they call for officers to disable a shooter as quickly as possible, regardless of how many officers are actually on site?” Blitzer asked him.

Olivarez said the officers who arrived at the school quickly might have been shot had they attempted to take out the gunman alone. He said,

The active shooter situation, you want to stop the killing, you want to preserve life, but also one thing that – of course, the American people need to understand — that officers are making entry into this building. They do not know where the gunman is. They are hearing gunshots.

They are receiving gunshots. At that point, if they proceeded any further not knowing where the suspect was at, they could’ve been shot, they could’ve been killed, and that gunman would have had an opportunity to kill other people inside that school.

So the officers with guns and vests found it too dangerous.  Gee, maybe someone should have told them their job can get dicey at times!!

Keep in mind that article is an opinion piece.  I'm not saying it's bad, but it is the writers personal opinion.

I have my news feed set to multiple sources.  Purpose being to see what events are happening.  From there I usually try to find local sources, as they tend to be less biased and focused more about finding facts of the situation.  They are also usually connect to local authorities and sources.  If I use national sources I like to stick with AP and Reuters.  They are far more centered than say CNN, MSNBC (far left) or FOX, OAN (far right).  WSJ falls in the center as well.
How do you do a news feed? What sources?

I just read that the company who manufactured the rifles used in the Texas attack pulled out of the NRA convention this weekend.

Out of curiosity, I went to their website, Daniel Defense. Their AR's start at $2K each. Add in the 20 magazines he bought, and the 1000+ rounds of ammo.

Again, where did this money come from?

40 years ago, 48% of homes in the US had at least one firearm. That number is now 32%. Fewer and fewer people/homes are owning guns- and it's more difficult to get/purchase guns now.

What has changed? Mental institutions have been closed down, our society keeps pushing consumerism and materialism down peoples throats more and more which does nothing but cause decay of the entire society, people spend all day sitting in front of a screen and watching crazy sh*t on the internet and not going outside and interacting with actual people in real life, and the entire middle class has been eroded- there are no good paying manufacturing jobs in the US- literally millions of them left- people are in despair or poverty and that's usually when they turn to drugs/violence.

There are a lot of causes, it's not just one thing. And religion definitely has zero to do with it. Less than zero, actually.
I was in agreement with you until your final sentence. You may not be a religious person and that is fine. However, the basic tenets of religion, specifically Christianity, call for people to adhere to basic morals. My brother in law is agnostic, but he agrees that the Ten Commandments are basic rules that society should live by, and that is my point. You don't want to participate in religion, fine. But show me which of the Ten Commandments you disagree with.

I think you accidently acknowledged the ugly truth to all of this.
Keeping our kids truly safe (not the illusion of safety) isn't a priority in our country.  Not at the expense of more dollars and certainly not at the expense of even the idea of giving up a tiny sliver of your gun collection.  The sliver not meant for hunting or home defense, btw.  The sliver of your gun collection that feeds into your massochhistic wet dream of the gubmint coming to git you, and you fighting off the entire US military and being a hero in your own mind.
.
But yes, plainly put, our country doesn't make this a priority.  Yawn.  Done.  Over.
My gun collection is not a threat to anyone that does not enter my home without permission. You can sit there and judge me all you wish but ignorant opinion of me or other gun owners means nothing. It has been said to not accept criticism from people that you would not take advice from. You fit that description to a T.

I prefer to wait until the state investigation is complete before jumping to conclusions as there are differing stories about how this incident went down. To many people are in a rush to judgement here and are running with half truths and rumors.

The egg lobby is worldwide!!!

BEIJING, China — New, egg-citing research reports moderate egg consumption may provide a major boost to heart health. Scientists say eating up to one egg daily can increase the amount of heart-healthy metabolites in the blood, thus lowering your risk of cardiovascular disease.

As synonymous with breakfast as orange juice, eggs are chock-full of essential nutrients. Despite that, they also contain a lot of cholesterol. Scientists have debated for decades whether eggs are more beneficial or harmful to heart health. For instance, in 2018, a study featuring about 500,000 Chinese adults concluded that daily egg consumption (roughly one per day) results in lower heart disease and stroke risk.
