Are We Living in the Gilded Age 2.0 ? - HISTORY

By 1890, the top 1 percent of the U.S. population owned 51 percent of all wealth. The top 12 percent owned an astounding 86 percent. The lower 44 percent of U.S. population—almost half the country—owned just 1.2 percent.

The figure today is about 31%, so it was worse back then.  And this has nothing to do with a booming economy.

are you actually saying we have a booming economy
We have had one with near record GDP growth to this point, so yes.  It's a recovery from a very sharp recession.

Booming simply means high GDP growth, nothing else.  It could be a bad economy by other metrics.

I think it's on shaky legs.

How so? I've not noticed any changes, except it costs more to insure the house due to hurricanes. Auto is about the same as where I came from, as is marine.
From a company angle. A lot of the bigger companies limit exposure there. Precisely because it’s more expensive to operate. More places make you go through agents, etc.

Not the end of the world or anything.

A booming economy may not be in all respects a great economy, as I noted.  It may have issues.  But, if GDP is growing by leaps and bounds, it's a booming economy.

This isn't difficult, it's simple terminology.
If you think the economy is booming I have a house for sale for you, cheap, Of coarse you will have to move it yourself

President Harry S. Truman said: “The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount.  The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings…  If we don't have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally wind up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the state.”

It's more correct to note that is has been booming of late, using the standard metrics.  Whether that continues is in more doubt.

Gross Domestic Product, Fourth Quarter and Year 2021 (Advance Estimate) | U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA)

Real GDP increased 5.7 percent in 2021 (from the 2020 annual level to the 2021 annual level), in contrast to a decrease of 3.4 percent in 2020 (table 1). The increase in real GDP in 2021 reflected increases in all major subcomponents, led by PCE, nonresidential fixed investment, exports, residential fixed investment, and private inventory investment.

The genius contestants were all caught looking on a Multi-Sport Athlete answer which involved Bo Jsckson.   It was very sad.  I felt old.

I will try it, though it's in a different zip code.  Ha.  The term "west midtown" is interesting, it used to be a light industrial sector that was pretty, well, unattractive and barren, but the relatively low property costs have attractive major development and a ton of new restaurants.  It's a drive for us, not far, but in the car.

It seems to be one of the really hip places to live now, but transportation is abysmal.

677 10th St NW - Google Maps

Street view, a lot of older buildings mixed in with new apartment complexes.  The place looks like a dive for sure, cool.

We had lunch yesterday at the new Persian place, it is consistently very good, and crowded even at lunch.

The news is mostly basic facts.

Lol, what news have you watched the last 6 or 7 years? Every last cable news hour opens with a monologue steeped in sharp, unforgiving editorial.

Unless the only news you’ve been watching is the Weather Channel.

Its not only what they say but many times its what they dont say

sometimes they are as quiet as a little church mouse concerning current events that dont fit their agenda
