The national average on election day was about $2.09.  It went up quickly to March and then trended higher to February of this year when is shot up.  This likely tracks increased demand until Ukraine happened.

When the economy was slammed by COVID, yes we had cheap gas, no doubt about it.  But it wasn't necessarily a good thing.

If the economy is slammed by a bad recession, we'll have cheaper gas again.

So the average price of gas went up 47% but this supplier has raised it 90%? Interesting

Marinas always charge a premium.  A substantial premium.

Speaking of marinas, I'm looking at one of these right now:

A very high percentage of that premium is due to insurance requirements. A spill on the water is vastly different than a land spill.

What do you want that for? Be better off sticking with your Cobalt, or buying a newer one. Much more versatile. You ain't getting younger.

Kids are wakeboarding and wakesurfing now.  The Cobalt isn't very good for either one of those things.  And this boat is a fantastic cruiser, too.  It's huge and heavy.  It's not great for slalom skiing, but it's not any worse than the Cobalt.

Has anyone developed a battery powered real boat?  (Not a trolling motor, so don't troll on that.)

You might not need much range, and the cost differential would be huge.  Would an electric boat with a 40 mile range be generally acceptable?  I know they get 2-3 mpg often as not, so you would need a larger battery pack.

Yup.  There is an all-electric Super Air Nautique.  As far as I can tell they're not in full production yet, and I haven't seen any published numbers for hours of operation before recharge, but this article from last May states it's supposed to last "several hours."  Estimated price for now is $300,000, while the gas-powered version is around $150,000.

How long would it take to recoup that $150 K with lower operating costs, presuming the boats are equivalent otherwise?

No oil changes.  You'd need a place to plug it in.
