Florida officials fight back against rowdy spring breakers (msn.com)
#make-crime-illegal-again.

Trumps Fault.  Desantis Fault.

I am sure our resident “progressives” here will be quick to come and explain that to us.  😂😂😂

I like this rhetorical bit.

Most of the post doesn’t really make sense and is mostly just political word salad. But if someone is like “what does that actually mean?” they're the progressive here to talk down to you. A very good bit, really.

Most of what I see in politics is word salad, panderings, sensationlizations, claims, counterclaims, and very little of actual substance.  I guess that is obvious.

I believe to assess some reasonable portrayal of "truth" in the world, one has to check numerous "news" outlets.  I find the business oriented outlets to be less, well, obviously partisan, they usually lean right on fiscal matters of course, but their readers have money at stake and appreciate hearing some factual reportage, often as not.

NPR is not free from agendas and partisan hackery.  So that's clearly not the answer.
I mean, there is no answer.

Most of media, especially successful media is a capitalistic enterprise. And thus, it sells consumers what they want. And what they want is agendas and partisan hackery (shoot, a lot of what WE want is that, and we’re smarter than most). So the producer gives the people what they want.

If you want a free press then this is the result

The alternative is far worse

As CD said there plenty of sources out there and all the viewer can do is try and find the sources they feel they can trust

Thank you.  After your word salad yesterday making excuses, and blaming everyone but the guilty yesterday when discussing how Will slapping Chris was Trumps fault- this was apropos.

you nailed it 100%.

Middle class has been eroding slowly for decades and the "American dream" has been dying. America is shifting to a nation of renters. Pretty much everything you just laid out is happening here. Violent crime rates are exploding. The murder rate went up 30% from 2020 to 2021- the highest increase in a single year in more than a century. We have over 100,000 people dying every year from drug overdoses now- vast majority of those- nearly 80%- are Opiate overdoses.

Not sure it's the younger generation that lacks vision- as they don't have the power to change things. The power is in the hands of the old and the crusty. It's the DC ghoul swap creatures in their 70s and 80s like Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Mitch McConnell that lack vision- and who can't get a god damn thing of consequence done. I thought Obama as a younger guy would come in and shake things up- I actually voted for him- but that was mostly all great PR.

People talk about corruption in other countries....DC is as corrupt as it gets. Can't fix anything until that issue is dealt with.
One of your best efforts and wish it was full of holes - ya know like your football takes ;D. I too voted for obama the 1st time, have voted libertarian ever since for the POTUS. I really believe though can't prove my theory that ALL at the highest level HAVE BEEN BOUGHT or sold their souls to either Corporate or Communist interests. A ruderless ship that are taking on more tits to suckle with out adding anything to the till

I did not say that. I made no assessment of guilt. Laid no blame at Donny's feet. (The tweet was asinine)

(since that leaves a little wiggle room, it will smith‘s fault. I understand why he did it, but he’s a grown-up and grown-ups don’t do that)

I read "news" from a wide variety of sources daily.  I don't trust any of them, but the "straight up news" is very often the same report from each site.  By that I mean what someone said, what bill passed Congress, what the stock market did, etc., what I'd call hard news, it's factual, but then it can get spun of course later.

A site can report economic data for example, and another site reports the same data, but they emphasize one aspect over another, and vice versa, in their verbiage.  That is where the spin comes in, depending on whether they want the reader to think the news is good or bad.  And of course what gets headlined will vary quite a bit.
