In February 2010, it was reported that Columbia Pictures was developing a live-action film adaptation of Harold and the Purple Crayon, to be produced by Smith and James Lassiter, and written by Josh Klausner.[11] In December 2016, it was reported that the film would also be written by Dallas Clayton.[12]

On February 1, 2021, it was reported that Zachary Levi would star in the film, though it was not stated what role he would play. It was also announced that David Guion and Michael Handelman replaced Klausner and Clayton as screenwriters, with John Davis producing.[13] While Zooey Deschanel was added in the cast, it was announced director Carlos Saldanha is attached to direct the new film.[14] The film has set a release date for January 27, 2023.[15] It will also be Saldanha’s first feature film after working on Blue Sky StudiosSpies in Disguise in 2019, which after the studio went defunct in 2021, he did not work on another film after that.

In the streaming wars news- Amazon is buying MGM for $8.5 billion- obviously to bolster their Prime Video platform and compete with Netflix and Disney+. They now own James Bond. Hope they don't f**k it up and don't do any kind of direct to streaming new Bond movies. Those movies need to be released in theaters first. Daniel Craig did a masterful job rebooting that franchise. Hope they can find someone else to take that mantle up and make some great movies.

The most debauchery of my life- Thursday at Western Michigan, Friday at Central Michigan and Saturday at MSU, with a couple buds.

It’s a wonder I survived that weekend. 😳😳🔥🔥.  The parts I remember were pure stupidity.

I once was doing a recrystallization outside the hood with hot ethanol, you have to take considerable care and I was standing directly over it scraping with a glass rod and quite suddenly was staggering drunk.  Last about five minutes.

Had to do it over.

57% of U.S. households paid no federal income tax in 2021: Study (cnbc.com)
article is very misleading. huge spike in no federal income taxes being paid because of Covid and the relief, tax credits, and stimulus related to it. when you account for pay roll taxes, true percentage of Americans not paying any tax is around 17%.

And the part of the article that featured quotes from that piece of shit Rick Scott would be hilarious if it didn't want to make me vomit. Rick Scott can f**k off and die.

I don't know if it's sad or a good thing that basically literally two of the only actual real life journalists in all of US media- Glenn Greenwald and Matt Taibbi- are on Substack. It's great that they are independent and not constrained by for profit bullshit multi-national media conglomerates- which are mostly just stenographers for the state or a particular party when it has control of the state- but it is a little sad at the same time they don't have quite the reach to inform the masses that they should.

great read on the Hunter Biden laptop fiasco by Matt Taibbi and how Glenn Greenwald has been vindicated by his resignation from The Intercept- a newspaper he co-founded - over The Intercepts then-new RussiaGate conspiracy theorist editor Betsy Reed and her attempted censorship of an article Greenwald was writing on the laptop in Oct 2020:
