We get $130 K from retirement income here in GA free of state income tax (couples).  I figure if we had zero state income tax, they'd get revenues from other sources (me).

over 13,000 babies in Afghanistan have died of malnutrition in 2022 alone. We're not even 3 months into 2022. 95% of the Afghan population does not have enough food to eat, and over 3.5 million children need nutritional support. Acute hunger has doubled since just last July alone, and 99% of households headed by women in that country are facing acute hunger.

About a month ago Biden stole $7 billion of Afghan central bank reserves via executive order just because. A country that was already on the brink of starvation that has a GDP of less than $20 billion a year and a population of nearly 40 million people- and he just steals their money.

US needs to give that money back and they need to remove all sanctions. Immediately. This is disgusting. Not bad enough we bombed the f**k out of that country for 20 years and occupied it for 20 years. Disgusting. Reminds me of the pure evil of that infamous 60 Minutes interview with Madeleine Albright when she was asked by the interviewer if the deaths of 500,000 Iraqi children due to starvation and disease due to the draconian sanctions US placed on Iraq were worth it- and she said "yes, we think it's worth it". There is a special place in hell for people like that.

My wife is listening to a zoom meeting of the HOA annual seance.  I brought her some prosecco.  She was laughing, on mute, about some of the absurd things some owners are saying, one lady apparently dominating the discussion.

I could not stand it.

The Copenhagen Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics | by Aadarsh shrestha | Mar, 2022 | Cantor’s Paradise (cantorsparadise.com)

The archetypal example is an electron in an atom. Electrons can, for some calculations, be thought of as if (that caveat) they are in orbits which correspond to different amounts of energy. When an atom emits energy in the form of light, an electron disappears from one orbit and appears in another orbit closer to the nucleus of the atom. When an atom absorbs light, an electron disappears from one orbit and appears in one further out from the nucleus of the atom. But it does not move from one orbit to the other. First it is here, then it is there. This is known as a quantum jump (or a quantum leap (*contrary to what advertisers think, a quantum leap is a very small change made at random.)

Schrödinger intended his wave mechanics to explain what happens during the leap, but it didn’t, and he said: ‘If all this damned quantum jumping were really here to stay, I should be sorry I ever got involved with quantum theory.’ Alas for Schrödinger, it was, and is, here to stay. The matrix approach is more honest, since it does not pretend to try to tell us what is happening between state A and state B, but it provides less solace than the Schrödinger equation.

living in neighborhoods with HOA's are the worst. unfortunately in Florida that's almost unavoidable.

Our actual HOA board is pretty decent.  My wife told me this was not the annual meeting as I thought, it was on a special very weird situation.

Obviously in a condo building with 100+ units, you have no other option but to have an HOA.  I'm told we're awash in money.

I'm surprised prosecco was strong enough for her to listen to an HOA call!

We had an HOA when I lived in GA. It was pretty chill. There was one guy who DESPERATELY wanted to be part of the HOA governing committee, and there was an unspoken understanding from everyone in the neighborhood that under no circumstances should he ever be allowed to... Sounds like that lady got enough votes, unlike our guy.

The lady was not on the board, just an owner.  We had a strange situation here recently, some minor drama, and many felt the need to express their angst so they had a special meeting to air it out.  Tempest tea pot etc.

I cannot stand these things.  I talk to the head of the HOA on occasion, he lives down the hall, he's pretty good.

hard to argue. There are 195 countries in the world. China and India combined have 2.782 billion people. Roughly 36% of the worlds population in these two countries. The other 64% of the worlds population is in the other 193 countries.

Not to mention Saudi Arabia seems to be getting cozy with Russia/China and telling the US to eff off. Has American foreign policy ever been this weak on the worlds stage? I don't think so. It's unfathomable to me that US client state of 70+ years- Saudi Arabia refused calls from an American President.

I don't think it really matters, and I don't see that Biden is the root cause anyway.

Uh yeah, it really does matter.

China is the only true peer competitor to the US in the entire world and it's growing stronger by the day and it will soon overtake the US as the worlds largest economy. India has the 6th largest GDP in the world and it's economy is projected to vault all the way to #3 in the world and overtake Japan by 2030, and it's population will grow before long to overtake China and become the most populous country in the world. These countries are both moving away from the US right now, not closer to them.

And this Saudia Arabia shit is UNFATHOMABLE. Like jaw dropping, astounding really - and Biden is 100% the root cause of that.
