Just got back from the grocery store and gas station. Holy crap.

I feel bad for people on fixed incomes (like my wife) or those living check to check.

It’s bad.  Unfortunately- most signs point to it getting worse

I think gas is down about a nickel here.  So, many thanks to President Biden. :)

Gas is down - a little - but it will go back up very soon.

Groceries are ridiculous.

Groceries seem to be holding steady here, at least on vegetables/whole foods.  We buy almost zero prepackaged stuff so I can't comment on that.

Beef was already sky-high and that hasn't changed but at least it hasn't gotten worse.

Saudis could end this by ramping production up and getting OPEC to go along with them. The largest state owned oil company in Saudi Arabia, Saudi Aramco made $49 billion in profits in 2020. They made $110 billion in profits in 2021.

They don't have much incentive to right now as they are making a shitload of money, and they also openly hate Biden- who really did it to himself by flapping his stupid gums about "making them a pariah", "reassessing our relationship", he publicly blamed MbS for killing of Khashoggi, he also vowed to end US support for Saudis war in Yemen (he hasn't), he vowed to stop selling them weapons (he hasn't), and he vowed to re-enter the Obama Iran nuclear deal (Saudis don't want this, obviously). Not to mention when Biden got into office he flatly refused to even speak to the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, MbS on the phone for over a year.

Sorry, can't publicly treat Saudis like a dickhead and then privately be a dickhead by refusing their calls and then come begging them to pump oil like a little bitch when you need the price to go down so your party won't get wiped out in the midterms and you can have some sort of W when your Presidency has been nothing but L's and it looks like you're gonna be 1 termer.

Guy did it to himself. If you're an asshole towards another country, don't expect them to jump through hoops to do you a favor.

over 13,000 babies in Afghanistan have died of malnutrition in 2022 alone. We're not even 3 months into 2022. 95% of the Afghan population does not have enough food to eat, and over 3.5 million children need nutritional support. Acute hunger has doubled since just last July alone, and 99% of households headed by women in that country are facing acute hunger.

About a month ago Biden stole $7 billion of Afghan central bank reserves via executive order just because. A country that was already on the brink of starvation that has a GDP of less than $20 billion a year and a population of nearly 40 million people- and he just steals their money.

US needs to give that money back and they need to remove all sanctions. Immediately. This is disgusting. Not bad enough we bombed the f**k out of that country for 20 years and occupied it for 20 years. Disgusting. Reminds me of the pure evil of that infamous 60 Minutes interview with Madeleine Albright when she was asked by the interviewer if the deaths of 500,000 Iraqi children due to starvation and disease due to the draconian sanctions US placed on Iraq were worth it- and she said "yes, we think it's worth it". There is a special place in hell for people like that.
