I'm sure there are some in Congress with ethics and integrity and intelligence.  I'm also sure if they stay very long, they seem to lose all three.  Or it's that those who rise to powerful positions there are scum.  I got to know out Cincy rep a bit, he was a nice guy, I suspect he's honest, he's not very bright, at all.  He votes straight Republican on every issue.

I suspect most intelligent and honest people are turned off by politics.
I think you are 100% on the money. US is not getting the brightest and best for their politicians. Has not been getting that for awhile.

Heh, I remember are one point you told us you had left an iPad with a sex video at the shop and just left it there because you didn’t feel like getting it. Good times.
true story. and I'm not even a crackhead. now imagine a crackhead......they probably forget shit all the time. cocaine is a hell of a drug.

It was thrown on hard tile floor a few times, stomped on, and smashed into bits and then picked up thrown straight through a wall, so doubt it even turned out. My guess the dude just scrapped it for what parts he could.

Yeah, not really. The reality is, we need them so long as this is the current world order- where the whole world economy is run on and tied to oil, as is US dollar. When and until that changes, get back to me. Then we can ditch them. And the guy lived in America for like not even a year. That does not make him an American. Stop it. And he was a Saudi from an extremely prominent Saudi family that had close ties to the royal family. The guys grandfather was the personal physician of the founder and first king of the Saudi Arabian kingdom. His fathers brother- his uncle- Adnan Khashoggi was a billionaire arms dealer and purported to be the richest person in Saudi Arabia (outside the royals a'course). His first cousin was the Egyptian-Saudi billionaire Dodi Fayed who was Princess Diana's boyfriend who tragically died in a car accident with her back in the day. Yes, that Princess Diana. He's not some run of the mill journalist. He was an elite of the elite of his country.

He was a Saudi national. Not an American. I don't much care that he went to college here. It means nothing. Less than nothing. Wealthy foreigners often go to other countries for their college studies. Osama Bin Laden lived in the UK for 3-4 years when he went to Oxford. Is he British? Yeah, no. Speaking of Bin Laden, the guy was at one time very close personal friends with Osama Bin Laden. Which would make sense, they are both from billionaire Saudi families with close ties to the royal family.

Anywhoo...the guy moved to America in June 2017. And he went to Turkey to try to divorce his current SAUDI wife so he could marry a Turkish one. And the reason why he moved to America is because he was pissed off that he was getting banned/censored from writing and media appearances in the kingdom for criticizing Donald Trump's policy in Middle East. True story. He wasn't banned because he was critical of MbS or the devastation of Yemen, or the kingdoms support and exportation of Wahhabism around the Muslim world. It was all because in December of 2016 he mildly criticized…....Donald Trump. And roughly 6 months later, he moved to the US.

And Trump never had to beg the Saudis for anything. They liked and respected the guy. In 2018 he told them you are't getting more fat arms deals and we aren't going to help you in Yemen if you don't do what I tell you and pump oil and drive the price down. In 2020 he told them if they didn't end the price war with Russia and cut back on production his hands would be tied and he'd be forced to pull all US military personnel out of the kingdom. Needless to say they complied both times.

You want to talk about beg? It was really pathetic seeing Biden going hat in hand to beg Venezuela for oil after US has been desperately trying to overthrow Maduro and his predecessor Hugo Chavez for- oh years- and have been pretending for the last few years that some shitstain sock puppet named Juan Guaido is the "real president" of Venezuela.
LOL the more words you type the sadder it is. He was educated in an American university, and lived in America, and worked in American journalism. Writing tons and tons to try and delude yourself away from the truth is what it is. Excuses, excuses, excuses. As you said, if Saudi Arabia had assassinated an American citizen proper, well, that's tough to ignore. No doubt, we would try to ignore it as we tried to ignore this, but at the end if the day, there is no getting around the obvious. It's just trying to put lipstick on a hog. This was an abomination and a direct assault on us, and we had to just take it. President Trump was made to look pathetic.

But as you say, that's where we are. Which is why we should be advocating getting out of that position instead of whining every other year about how people won't sell us gas on the cheap whenever we want it.

Him being educated in an American university when he was in his 20s, again, means absolutely nothing. Wealthy foreign nationals go to universities outside their home country all of the time. That does not mean anything nor make them citizens of the countries they attended university in. Again- was Osama Bin Laden a UK citizen because he studied at Oxford? No. Dude lived in America for a whopping year of his 59 year long life. Totally makes him an American. Not.

Saudis did a gruesome, disgusting thing to one of their own citizens. No doubt it was disgusting. But they routinely do things like this and much worse to their own citizens. They publicly beheaded and crucified a 17 year old kid all for the crime of speaking out against the dictatorship and attending a protest. They just publicly slaughtered 81 people a couple days ago and not a peep.

It was not a direct attack or assault on us. That is beyond laughable to even say that. It would be a direct assault on US if say, they kidnapped and slaughtered say Jake Tapper or any AMERICAN journalist. But of course, they would never do this. Because they only go after their own. They aren't going to go after Americans. Would never happen. They just don't do that. They brutalize and murder their own just for breakfast and 99.999999% of the time most here don't seem to give a rats ass. Now everyone pretends to be all shocked they did this to one of their own citizens and pretends to give a shit just because the guy lived in America for a year and worked at the Washington Post for 6 months. Puhhhleeeease.

Trump wasn't made to look like anything. Trump kept things transactional. He didn't purposely try to piss off and alienate the leader of the Sauids. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Trump bragged about providing political cover for MbS and shielding him from blowback in US. Trump literally did not even care. Why? Because Jamal Khoshoggi wasn't an American. He was a Saudi. Trump correctly calculated- not our business- what they do to their own people- is their business. Saudis have been doing this kind of shit forever to their own people. Why pretend to care now?

Has nothing to do about selling us gas. They don't sell us much gas. Or crude oil. However, they are the worlds largest exporter of oil, the worlds low cost-high volume producer of oil, are the most powerful/influential member with most control of OPEC (which produces over 40% of worlds oil, and produces over 60% of worlds oil exports), and have exclusively denominated their oil in US dollars- and then recycle said profits from their oil trade into US real estate, businesses, and US treasuries. And because of this they can wield massive influence over the price of oil, inflation, and strength of the US dollar.

that old hag is moving to Florida. Just bought a $25 million house in Jupiter on the beach. Supposedly she's moving there when she steps down and retires. Guess taxes are too high for her to stay in California. Freaking bitch.
This was apparently made up. Well, not the last part, that's a matter of opinion.

Terry Hoague has a winery there.  He was an AA at UGA and posted a 3.93 GPA in genetics during his time as a student, played for the Eagles in the League for a while.  Really nice guy.

I think it was the most pathetic we have ever looked on a worldwide stage. The Saudis just sawed up an American journalist, and our president just had to take it. If there was ever a sign of the west's decline, that was it. Like I said, we have to give ourselves therapy talks about how he wasn't really, truly American so that we don't feel so bad about it and can move past. They weren't laughing at us, they were laughing with us. Boo-urns!

I'm not sure what the US could do about Kashoggi beyond some harsh language.  Fortunately, we have reduced our dependence on SA oil by a good bit, though obviously their impact on global production remains enormous.  In "normal times", they would be considered an enemy, but the enemy of my enemy ...

They have a larger air force than any European country except Russia.  They seem to have a working relationship with Israel for the above reason.

whether the guy is called an "American" or not seems irrelevant to me, he was not a citizen, he did work here for a while and was educated here.

We still plan on the cruise out of Copenhagen short of something very dire happening.

They are supposed to do air travel arrangements for us, I probably should call them.  We're arriving two days before and staying two after in Copenhagen.  Oddly enough that is the only latitude they offer.
