Gas $4.69/gal today at Costco... $5.45 at the Arco I passed on the way there...

That's for 87 octane.

BTW this would be a good time to highlight that unless you have a high-compression engine that the auto's manual says you should use a higher grade gas, there is ABSOLUTELY NO ADVANTAGE to running a higher octane than your engine is designed for. It's not better. It won't give you more power. It won't clean your engine. All it will do is lighten your wallet.
not saying youre wrong only that I was led to believe that more octane means cleaner burn and less residue buildup

is that just not true

$3.18 at my Costco.  $3.13 at the quickie mart down the block.

That is not true.

Higher octane is actually used to retard ignition. It takes more energy to ignite than lower-octane gas. Which is why it's necessary for high-compression engines to not allow it to ignite prematurely, causing knocking.

If your auto manual says you need it, buy it. If not, it's a waste of money, ALL the marketing campaigns of the fuel companies notwithstanding.

If you have a high-compression engine that requires it, using lower octane gas usually will no longer cause knocking, because modern engines can adjust to the gas and alter timing to keep the knocking from happening. THOSE engines will actually lose power running a lower grade of gas than is specified in the manual, but engines that don't require it won't gain anything from running higher than specified.

In other news, my VP just sent me one of these for my home office, as a reward for kicking tail all last year.  It's pretty, pretty good.

Nice!

Looks like we're going back to the office starting in April. Hybrid of only 3 days a week though, which is nice.

We start back officially on Monday.  I imagine I'll be going in for about a half-day per week, when I have important meetings lined up and I know there will be face-to-face availability of folks.

It will feel VERY strange walking back into that office.

Yeah, I've been back roughly half a dozen times in two years. Going in multiple days a week will be very strange.

But I feel like I should make use of it. With the Director title, I actually have an office... With four real walls and a door... I might as well enjoy it while I can!

At least they're standardizing on "in office" days. I would absolutely hate it if it was piecemeal and you go into the office on a Monday only to find out that 2-3 of the people you really wanted to actually talk to F2F were Tuesday people...

OK since utee deleted my post on the Ukraine thread Im going to repost it here

Biden refuses to increase the amount of oil production up to Trump levels which would offset the affect of banning Ukraine oil imports

It appears he will screw the average American instead of going against his green supporters

This is crap

He would rather tap the federal reserves then save this nation by restoring oil production up to Trump levels

Our Directors and VPs still have cubes-- so they just set up permanent shop in the conference rooms, that are supposed to be available to everyone.  It's silly, and annoying, because conference rooms are always at a premium.

Supposedly they've cut down on cubes and installed more conference rooms.  Guess I'll find out next week.

yeah, but if my wallet is lighter, then that's less strain on the vehicle to pull me, giving me better mileage and efficiency. right?

Apparently up in our Bay Area offices, only Sr Director and higher warrant an office. Luckily I'm down here in SoCal.

Well it's only "figure of speech" lighter, in that chances are if you--like most people--pay for your gas with a little plastic card, then the account your $ is withdrawn from is smaller while your wallet remains the same weight.
