I mean is the only choice well meaning idiots or traitors?

Seems like it
that guy isn't a well meaning idiot, he knows full well what he's saying. he's a warmonger. it had to have occurred to him that what he is publicly pushing for is an act of war against Russia- which would lead to escalation and possibly freaking start WWIII. Yeah, great idea, pal!

I fail to see how anyone could be labeled a traitor. That's just some stupid media bullsh*t. The United States is not at war with Russia. Nor is Ukraine a party to NATO, NORAD, or ANZUS treaties. Ukraine is not an ally of the United States. Partner, sure. Effective US colony post the US helping to overthrow a democratically elected government in 2014, sure. Ally, no.

yeah and I believe literally their only warm water port is in Crimea, but even then Turkey could shut them out of the straits of Bosphorus.
You really believe that? They're not flying sorties against Kurdish Rebels

now will Germany, Italy, and the rest of Western Europe stop buying Russian oil & gas? Doubtful.
They certainly haven't agreed to that yet, and I agree they're not likely to do so.

This is why the language specifically says that SWIFT access has been cut to certain banks and financial institutions in Russian, rather than ALL of them.  They intentionally didn't cut access to the ones they use to pay Russia for the gas.

I want the US and all of Europe to stop purchasing Russian oil immediately, but of course I'm not the King of the West, sadly.

one of the GOATs. I've got Carlin, Pryor, Chappelle, and Louis CK on my Mt Rushmore.
Louis is nowhere near Rushmore level. Too much of his comedy is saying horrible stuff for shock value. It can be funny, but I feel like too often it's just low hanging fruit.

Louis CK? I don't know about Mount Rushmore, but I never thought of him as a shock comedian. His sexual interests, OTOH...

His show was really good, too.

Turkey could and might close the Straits.  They are a NATO country.  They have pretty decent military capabilities.

As for gas and oil, you're asking an addict to go cold turkey, won't happen.
