Putin claims NATO made "promises" not to expand NATO.  "Promises"?  For what?  Nonsense, it's Putin rewriting history.

Now he threatens Finland, and apparently Russia NOW may be agreeing to talks with Ukraine.

did he praise the invasion? didn't see what he said. wouldn't surprise me if he pat Putin on the back for out-smarting Biden and blamed Biden for the invasion- politics and such.

Russian and Ukrainian fighters are the same models, in the air they'd look the same, a single bold Ukrainian could use that to advantage, even if the IFF was set differently.  Everyone else in the air would be Russian.  A Russian would hesitate to fire on a Russian jet even if the IFF was not squawking right.

An F-16 would lack that advantage.  An F-15 resembles some of their Su fighters.

I'm not going to link the nearly 40 declassified cables and documents, but there were most definitely verbal assurances (promises) made on NATO expansion eastward. For what? The withdraw of the Soviet army in East Germany and the reunification of Germany. Germany-  you know - a country that just 45 or so years prior to that point had invaded and devastated USSR/Russia- killing millions of Russians in the process. He's not rewriting history. I still don't see his claim of an agreement or treaty- as you suggested.

Finland should remain neutral. It's worked wonderfully for them for decades. There hasn't been any conflict there. Why start sh*t now?
