Longhorn.
Wow.
Let it go.

This is why "you people" get called racist.  You treat the BLM marches that deteriorated into riots and looting as an ace on the last hand of Spades.....just jonesing to slam it down and win the hand.

It happened.
It's over.

Those people thought they were being slighted and were sick of it
These people think they're being slighted and are sick of it.

People act out when the evidence for their being slighted is too big to ignore.
But you're all too giddy to click 'post' on the above entry.

It's gross.
You're gross.

Not that I give a rat's ass whether or not the US mediots and president lose global credibility, but they can always just state something like, "The leaked intelligence proving we knew his plan, caused Putin to scuttle his scheme and abandon the invasion.  Crisis averted.  You're welcome."

Those who want to believe it, will.  Those who want to disbelieve it, will.
Not sure I agree. US has basically zero credibility both domestic and around the world, and for good reason, when it comes to "intelligence agencies/intelligence information/war".

I mean I could go on and on about how many times they flat out lied and were dead wrong about pretty huge things and got caught with their pants down time and time again - but that post would take hours to write- there's that much crap in there.

I think it's a massive blow to US credibility around the world if Russia doesn't invade now. You can't have basically no credibility left and then be that cocksure and fan the flames of war that hardcore only for nothing to happen and then you don't lose credibility. Which means if Putin just keeps doing what he's doing and f**king with everyone but never invades - he'll win imo.

Didn't all that stuff lead to someone passing a law that you could run over those people?

(I personally think that kind of protest is fine, though I also think that some level of forced movement is eventually gonna happen, here or there. I do agree many of those Canadian tactics are decidedly wrong)

Is this quarterly YoY comparisons against 2020 CQ4 profits?

Because in every business everywhere, that's suspect. Compare against 2019 CQ4.

The pandemic skewed numbers everywhere.

just looked up Chipotle. Their revenue/sales actually increased by roughly $400 million in 2020 from 2019. And their profit went up by about $6 million in 2020 vs 2019. Revenues in 2020 were $5.9 billion with $356 million in profit.

Their revenue and profit increased drastically from 2021 to 2019 - from $5.5 billion in 2019 with $350 million in profits to $7.5 billion in revenue in 2021 - with $653 million in profits.

Just one scenario, but I think the dude with the original tweet may have been right in this specific case. Haven't dug into the other companies just yet.

edit: and I think the original twitter guy was posting about YoY vs 2020 - but not 100% on that.

I wonder if this could be showing that all the restaurant closures throughout the nation (reportedly as many as 40-60% - gone forever) may be making big chains like Chipotle sales shoot through the roof. They did $1.6 billion more in revenue in one year-  that's pretty astounding. Looking at their sales - they've never made jumps like that the last 5+ years. Not sure that is all attributed to increases in prices.

Tons of local mom and pops gone out of business forever- fewer and fewer dining options- Chipotle snatches up that business. The big boys got the bailouts and are stronger than ever. Wall Street got a whale of a deal while Main Street took it up the you know what.

We're friends with our local French restaurant owner.   They got bailed out, they said they would not have survived otherwise.  They are still on the edge though.

They don't really do take out, and places like that suffered a lot.  Take out around here has really expanded a lot.  We had lunch at Mukja today and take out is 40% of their business.

It's probably all some massive conspiracy though.  Maybe not.
