This is a play by Putin knowing who is currently occupying the White House. Ask yourself why he didn't do this while Trump was in office.  Because Putin believed that if he pushed Trump into corner, Trump might come out swinging. IMHO, he feels that Biden is a push over and will cave long before he has to follow through with any of this threats.
Interesting question.

We know #45 was anti-war. So did Putin.

however, #45 was much better at playing chess than #46, who plays checkers.

Putin took Crimea when #44 was in charge.

Only one President since FDR has not gotten the USA into any war.

I made 4 statements, and you chose to address the most irrelevant. C'mon man.

Overall, sure, but how about is some bordering regions like the Donbass?

The Sudetenland was in fact mostly German, carved out after WW One.  Poland in 1939 of course was not.

Good point.

Looks pretty Ukrainian to me, whatever that might mean.

And the idea that Putin wants to invade the Ukraine to "liberate" a handful of folks is laughable.

Well, the beliefs that Ukraine and Russia had good solid relations and no violence and this wasn't ramping up while Trump was president are all false. Biden also hasn't started any new wars, and actually took dramatic steps to end a war and greatly reduce violence. I'm hopeful there will be enough anti-war sentiment from both parties to keep them from starting a new one.

I kinda miss the Cold War, when all we had to worry about was conventional war with one Big Bad and maybe a little bit of nuclear holocaust.

Now we have to worry about terrorists blowing us up in our places of work, and drug cartels and economic warfare and climate change how many Likes we got on social media.

Seems to me that Ford did not. I forgot about him, honestly. I feel bad about that. Good guy.

Carter brought us into Afghan when the Soviets invaded.

Russia and the Ukraine have never had good relations.

Are you speaking of the Afghan withdrawal debacle that is still going on?

I would not be hopeful.

The State is a deep one, and there are plenty of war mongers lurking within it.

#46 doesn't have the pushback to keep a war from happening if the Deep State wants one.

I wouldn't put that on IKE who actually got along quite well with Georgy Zhukov after the war as unlike Stalin he acknowledged the massive aid in trucks,Spam and boots that helped their hordes get to the Reich.Of course they were all scared as shit of Stalin after the war was over

I suppose. You could put the start of the cold war on Truman, but we all know who was THE MAN in charge of the most powerful military in the world at that time.

to be fair to biden, a majority of that "plan" to withdraw from afganistan was put in place by trump. trump also didn't cooperate with biden admin in transition, which didn't help at all.

biden got the ball and promptly dropped it, but the one he was handed was old, flat, and covered in shit.

but at least biden owned up to it, even if it was a bit patronizing.
