I have quite a few friends who live just South from there, in Palm Beach Gardens. Nice area, but man.. the traffic sucks. Even off-season. Speaking of season... I wish they would go back already.
Ha! Palm Beach Gardens is a cake walk! Further south you go, the traffic just gets progressively worse. Anything north of Boca is a cake walk in my mind lol. Boca is god awful, then Pompano is even worse, then Ft Lauderdale is bonkers, and then once you get near Miami it's just a complete and utter shitshow.

South Florida has to have the worst highway traffic in the country or among the very tops. It's brutal. It's especially bad right now because of all the god damn snowbirds from Canada, Northeast, and Midwest who just won't f**king leave lol.

It is like that over here too. There’s a great little restaurant less than a mile from my house, right where I keep my boat docked. Since I moved here in 2016 you could walk in there at any time and get a seat. Great seafood and great hors d’oeuvres and right on the water.

now if you go there at lunch any day or Friday evening or Saturday day evening it’s up to an hour to a two hour wait.

I live within a few miles of the Stuart Airport. It’s a nice little airport and I have actually flown out of it several times on a private plane for in-state business trips. When I moved here you would see planes taking off and landing every 20 to 30 minutes and they were small planes.

now it is every 2 to 3 minutes including deep into the evening we’re planes are landing and they are no longer prop planes but rather sizable private jets for 20 or 30 passengers. It is insane
Stuart/Hobe Sound is super nice. Not far from Palm Beach, and way more slow paced, relaxed. Probably furthest north I'd ever go. Anything past that is just too damn far from civilization. They are great little towns/cities.

Yes!  Great trip!  You have to go through a series of locks, which is easy, and kind of cool.

so my brother who lives in Cape Coral took the canals to the resort on Lake Okeechobee. Took him about four hours. I drove there and met him for lunch. We then got into his boat and took the canals eastward towards my marina and left my car in Okeechobee. Spent the night at my house and in the morning took the approximately 3 1/2 hour boat ride back to Okeechobee. Had lunch and got in my car and drove home and he got in his boat with his wife and went back to his house.

very scenic and peaceful trip. Not much in the way of other boats. Lots of wildlife including gators and birds of every kind.

Pack a cooler full of beverages and snacks and do it. It’s fantastic
Is that the resort with the marina? I think it's in Clewiston?

A couple more months and they will be gone.

Worst traffic I have ever been in is Honolulu and it's not close.

I think I'll move to Austin instead.

Anyone know much about Vancouver, Canada?

I expected more traffic in ATL than exists on the side streets.  I think most of the time you make better time driving down Peachtree and catching lights than sitting on the interstate, which clogs up most of the day.  It's the sole N/S freeway in town.

I found this years ago in LA which has a nice grid of nonfreeway streets, I often would do far better staying off the freeways.

all I've heard is that they had the most insane single-family home prices in North America - and that was before the silliness that COVID caused with home prices.

My daughter is moving from C-bus to Vancouver soonish, for work.  Her company is opening a new office there and she was tapped to go.
