if you read the whole link you posted it says they have advanced to using boosters for the new fobs that you don't even need to press the button to work. it says it's relatively cheap and easy to make the boosters too. even has a video of one in use.

i've never heard of it until that snopes article you posted, but it's apparently a thing.

i'm not worried about it though. my vehicle doesn't even have an 80's version fob, just good old fashion keys.

You haven't heard of it because it's not something that's really happening in the real world.

Again, this email has been going around since 2006 if not earlier.  The exact words that Mr. N posted, are in those Snopes examples, from 2011, and 2006, etc.

There are about a million things you can do to protect better against car theft.

right, i get that. but what mr n posted is not what i discussed.

you're right, though, it's not likely to happen to anyone. but they have advanced some. it's still likely just easier to pop a window out and snatch and grab. no one cares about a car alarm other than how soon can you turn it off cause it's annoying.

No they really haven't made advances, not against the second generation of wireless entry, which has been around since the late 90s.  It's not that it can't be done, it's just that it's time-consuming and tedious and your average parking lot based thief is pretty lazy and stupid.

Sure, will do.  I've had remote keyless vehicles since 1995 and it hasn't happened yet, but tomorrow could always be the day.

I lock our car usually by touching the exterior door handle.  It unlocks the same way basically.

And it has an effective antitheft device called "a clutch".

I don't really have antipathy for Facebook (or much else because I'm old and my angst is pretty much gone).  It's there, I use it a bit mostly for entertainment and keeping up with baseball and the Marines and some history stuff.  If it went defunct, I'd be momentarily chagrined I suppose and get over it.  Everyone loves to hate a billionaire it seems.

A billion is a thousand million, hard to believe really.

LOL.

My Jeep doesn't have a roof on it, but it's got the same antitheft device.

is there a bigger douchebag in all of cable news than Jim Acosta? guy writes an entire shitty book that no one bought about how Donald Trump was mean to him and that he was in sooooo much danger as is freedom of the press - guy talks about that shit and the f**king douchebag never mentions Julian Assange once. lol. the guy is a f**king hack - not a journalist, he's just another shitty tv actor espousing propaganda and lies.

this is from April 21st, 2021...

"US intelligence" via their mouth-pieces in the mass corporate press has been saying for MONTHS that Russia is going to invade Ukraine. Yet they've haven't invaded Ukraine. If Russia was really going to invade - it wouldn't take them almost a year to invade. They'd just do it. In case you haven't noticed, "US intelligence" is full of shit as are their puppets in the mass corporate media.

Top ISIS leader was killed in a US Special Forces raid in Northern Syria overnight.  Abu Ibrahim al-Hahimi al-Qurayshi died and took numerous children and women with him when his suicide vest exploded.
