No one in the US seems to have a problem with this?  No one?  Are you outside the US?

Why don't you avoid the ridiculous hyperbole and stick to the discussion?

if majority of the people in the US actually had a problem with this, twitter would collapse overnight. it would lose all credibility and no one would use it. obviously that isn't the case - and millions of Americans literally do not care at all and will continue to use that garbage app/website.

this scares me...76% of Democrats polled are in favor of censorship by tech monopolies, meanwhile 65% are in favor of censorship by some sort of government action. f**king scares the shit out of me.

Well now you've moved the goalposts significantly from "nobody" to "a majority."

Besides that, Twitter only has something like 77 million users in the USA, while Facebook is almost 200 million.

I'm only speaking anecdotally from my own experience here, but in my circles of acquaintance the types of people that use Twitter also tend to be the types of people that are more trusting of government and want the Federal government specifically to exert more, not less, control over their lives.

The cross-section of Facebook users is a lot larger and therefore more diverse.  It includes my parents and their peers, all of whom are much more conservative than the Twitter masses tend to be.

The point being, Twitter really is pretty much a leftist echo-chamber and I believe you're assigning a lot more weight and value to it, than it probably deserves in the grand scheme of social influences out there.

you're probably right. I am just vehemently against censorship.

This on the other hand, is a lot scarier to me, than whatever the influence of Twitter might be.  I'm right there with you 100% on calling this out as some major nightmare fuel.

The side promoting the damaging misinformation is suddenly more against censorship.  You don't say!
The side who ignores experts and has alternative facts doesn't want its lies and flagrant verbal diarrhea to be compelled to shut up.  Yawn.

TBF, I read CD as saying the government potentially could, and maybe should, bar misinformation. He cited that freedom of speech is not without limit, suggesting to a casual reader that he wasn't convinced it would be improper for government to do so.

I simply raised the issue, in a general sense, with no slant either way.  Then one poster read into what I posted what never was there, which isn't that unusual around here.

Another poster decided I hated Muslims because I noted the Battle of Tours was important in world history.
