Hard to have a conversation with somebody who is either completely ignoring the facts or making them up as they go along. You think inflation is being caused by rising wages?

You need to look at Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Washington DC, and virtually every large city to see that murder is up, carjackings are up, assaults are up, the list is endless. You can ignore it Sam but that doesn’t mean it isn’t there
Inflation is caused by a few things - certainly wildly increased demand accounts for some, but that is likely to slow down. The things you mentioned are related to a labor shortage. How can you complain about a labor shortage and not want to increase immigration?

There’s a lot of things I am very stupid about. I wouldn’t try to argue with you over a matters of law as I understand you are an attorney.

My undergraduate degree and graduate degree are in economics and finance so I’m pretty well tuned in to what things can and do cause inflation.

and I have never said, not now or ever, that I am against immigration.

what I am against is massive overrun of our borders by illegal immigrants, and thinly veiled government support to move them around the country and support them financially with things like education and healthcare as well as voting rights.  That infusion of taxpayer money is unconstitutional, misused, and a supremely strong contributor to inflation.

Those are two different things. We need SKILLED labor.

There are too many open jobs in manufacturing to count. A degree in art history doesn't qualify one for those jobs. A degree in art history will get you a job sitting in your mom's basement all day.

We need less of those degrees, and more vocational degrees/certificates/programs and internships.

Problem solved. Too bad our society is generally too lazy to make it happen.

Germany's got themselves stuck between a rock and a hard place.  They've turned out to be pretty toothless after all.

Which, after so many decades of reunification fears among the other countries in Europe, might not be the worst thing in the world.
they're toothless because they've tied their energy supply to russian gas. russian supply of gas was almost triple any other supplier to germany and that was before the new pipeline agreement that was announced last year.

Well yes, of course.  Getting a huge percentage of their oil and gas from Russia wasn't their only option, it was just the cheapest and most expedient. Consequently, they're not going to fight their new best frenemy Russia.  But they're also not likely to act as a puppet for Russia and go against their EU and NATO allies in Europe.

So, toothless.

Which is right where many of their European neighbors would prefer to have them.

no, it's not, but it does explain why they are acting toothless with regards to russia right now. they have a lot to risk in this and are trying to play both sides. having to acquiesce to something you really don't want comes with the territory when you tie a significant part of your energy and economy to another country who is, at best, tenuously friendly.

same situation us and rest of world are with china/sea countries and manufacturing.

whole heartedly agree with needing to stop acting in interest of defense contractors. not sure this falls in line with that, though, as we aren't committing those resources to it. yet anyway.

I'm not calling you stupid I'm saying when we have a labor shortage we need more people to work, and that means immigrants. And there is a big supply of immigrants who want to come here and work. It's a pretty easy solution, but literally no one in politics is pushing for it, I imagine because they don't want to be unpopular. Legal immigration has declined over the last five years - that we have labor shortages should be of no surprise to anyone.

We need skilled and unskilled labor. Restaurants are having as hard time hiring people as anyone else. Further, immigrants are much more likely to be harder working and do labor intensive jobs, which is why we need them. Biden should be putting out a help wanted sign, not fooling around trying to shut down the border.
