Oof. On a par 29 course I just shot a 41. I carded an 8 on the easiest hole on the course, normally ~60 yards but playing ~35 with tees and pin up front. I could have scored better on that hole only using my putter.

Should I take this as evidence that God was punishing me for talking sh!t, or just that I suck at golf?

So, you were on pace to shoot 24 over?  If I shot 24 over and someone asked me how I played my response would be, “Not that bad actually.”

Probably not on this course. Golf anywhere is hard, but it's like being graded on an extremely generous curve...

then mission accomplished cause, as you know, you rarely play the same the next time out

and with the experience on the 35 yard hole, just use your putter on the tee ;)

going through some old pics from 2004, noticed I was at the Roshambo Winery on Westside Road in Healdsburg.
With a quick google search it appears that placed failed and is no longer
we visited 3 wineries that day.  Roshambo wasn't my favorite

I've been there! Cool logo/swag, cool grounds; I don't particularly recall anything positive about the quality of the wine lol... Probably why it failed.

I first found Westside Road trying to get from Korbel out on the Russian River back to Healdsburg without driving all the way back to where River Road hit the 101. I saw on the map that it connected River Road to Healdsburg and figured I'd give it a try. The first part of Westside Road (heading east from River Road) was a goat track... Narrow, windy, in dense forest. But then it just opened onto Sonoma Valley and was dotted with a bunch of wineries.

On that trip I ended up picking one, called Belvedere (no longer in operation, sadly), and had the most amazing Zinfandel of my life--it was the start of my love of Zinfandel from the Russian River and Dry Creek Valley regions. On a later trip the goal was to hit several wineries on that road, and Roshambo was one of them. I also really liked Hop Kiln, but that also failed I believe. Really cool place. It looks like the grounds are now owned by Landmark Winery, but I don't know if the wine is any good.

My next wine trip will be Paso Robles in March... But I'm going to have to find a way to get up to Napa/Sonoma sometime in 2022.
