That's not really atheism, that's agnosticism.  And generally, the agnostic position does make a claim:  That they don't know if there's a god, and/or it can't be known if there is a god.  The first claim is simply first-person experience and isn't forward looking, and off the top of my head, wouldn't need support...it's just their current mental state regarding the topic.  The second claim is actually a belief, and it does require support.  Agnostics don't get off the hook in their claims any more than atheists or theists.  Nor should they.
Atheism and theism aren't separate options from agnosticism.

You can be an agnostic atheist or an agnostic theist, which as you said, says we can't know if a god exists.  Technically you're right that they make a claim that requires support, but in reality we have no actual way of knowing one way or the other.  Being ticky-tack with agnosticism isn't really productive.

A vast majority of atheists are agnostic atheists because they're smart enough to know that suggesting certainty for something unfalsifiable is as silly as believing in a god and would take on the burden of proof.

We're not fish swimming in a judeo-christian sea.  We may have been at some point, but that would have been a low point, imo.

The ten commandments are very nearly garbage, as the first 3 are about how easily-offended that god is.  The rest are obvious things - and yes, I can say they're obvious, because when they're done to you, you feel shitty and angry and victimized.  It's the simplistic golden rule idea.  Gee, when someone I can about is murdered, I hate it.  When someone takes something of mine, I hate it.  When someone lies and makes other people think less of me, I hate it.  So if I do any of those things to someone else, they hate it.  And these are people I have to live with and among.

Duh.

But no mention of slavery being bad.  No encouragement to not rape anybody.  Those might have been a little better than "Don't take the lord's name in vain."

Humanism or the golden rule or whatever you'd like to call it is vastly superior to the ten commandments.  The judeo-christian sea so many people MAY be swimming in is full of absurdity, guilt, and horse shit.  It's a list of rules obviously made by bronze-age goat herding men, and it's unimpressive.

*I do enjoy the discussion, tho

My neighbor's father, who has Parkinsons, fell and hit his head this morning.  He has been sitting in a hospital hallway, by himself, for 6 hours, waiting for a room, but they are all filled with unvaccinated COVID patients.  His wife dropped him off, but isn't allowed in until he's admitted to a room.  I'm sorry, but it's time to start kicking some/all of these assholes out into the hallway.

How many of those rooms are actually filled with Covid patients though?

Down here, Covid patients account for 5-10 percent of the ICU beds, which are running close to 85 percent capacity. So, 75-80 percent of the beds are actually occupied by Covid patients.

This is important data to understand.

Sorry Adam... Hopefully he gets roomed and handled soon.

Best wishes for a full and hopefully speedy recovery.

The nurse told her mother that it was "almost entirely" unvaccinated COVID patients

Hospitals should give unvaccinated COVID patients a cot outside.

Costco was out of boneless leg of lamb... So I went down to the Persian market a mile from my house instead. On the phone they said they had boneless... But apparently not.

So I've got a 9# bone-in leg of lamb.

This doesn't look so hard, right?

First you take the bone and beat the Persian market guy over the head with it for lying to you.

And we are now almost through the shortest day of the year. It's all up from here!!
The three broads that I work alongside had no idea what I meant by that, and thought that I was implying that the day was going to be less than 24 hours. So from their vantage point I suppose that the "spring forward" time change would be the shortest day of the year. O0
