US production is on the rise again, slowly, it's not a simple matter of turning a dial of course.  This 50 million barrels is about 2.5 days of US usage, and oil prices were up 3% or so yesterday (the news had been anticipated).  I see it as optics, not something that will actually influence oil prices materially.  Neither would have a go ahead on some oil pipeline from Canada.

The truth often is in the middle.

the thing is we are really doing nothing right now to help ease gas prices

we need to increase oil production by favoring exploration instead of discouraging it

The various oil companies don't really need Presidential encouragement.  They do what they do based on profits obviously.  They got slammed last year and shut things down as quickly as they could.  They are restarting now, it takes some time and demand got out ahead of production, globally.  I surmise OPEC doesn't want to open the spigots, which they could do quickly, because they could find they had done that just as demand eased and supply overall increased.  US production would be slower to increase in any event with any President.

We consume about 20 million barrels a day, which is an astounding figure really and shows the difficulty of replacing that with ... something else.  A barrel is about 44 gal.

Nothing helps the labor supply like locking up the labor

why is the only way of adding to our labor supply importing illegals

I have nothing against immigrants who are legal

do it the legal way not sneaking them in at 2 in the morning

OPEC will wait until we manage to get our production up (which will only happen when the Reps take the government back) and when that happens they will open up and flood the market to try and put small production companies out of business.

we need to once again become self sustaining to insure OPEC cant hurt us

The government needs to rebuild the immigration infrastructure so that it doesn't take 10+ years to get through the system. I'm a firm believer in legal immigration as well, but the pace has to pick up.

Biden has been in office almost a year, and he still refuses to even get on the phone and talk to to the crown prince and ruler of Saudi Arabia, MbS. This is preposterous. Trump finessed and kissed the guys ass on the reg, his first official state visit was to Saudi Arabia. Trump would get on the horn with MbS directly on the regular and almost every time Trump asked him to amp up or cut production, MbS obliged. Biden won't even talk to him directly, and when people in his administration asked MbS to amp production he told them to F off.

Biden has caused some of the gas price problem when he took us from self sufficient to having to depend on the oil cartel
Again, self-sufficiency isn’t really a thing. It’s a big, flat world market. We don’t produce all the gas the US needs today and then sell off the rest.

Now, the argument can be made that we should work to make ourselves a bigger share of the market, thus putting a dent in the cartel’s ability to influence prices. It’s not likely to be much of a dent, and will involve several rounds of the cartel making life hard on our oil industry.

I agree with this. They have made it stupid hard to immigrate to the US legally. So many of us would not be here today if the same regulations were in place when our ancestors came here in the mid 1800s to early 1900s.

would be nice to be off oil completely. would be nice if every house had roof tiles that were actually solar panels and the glass on every high-rise building was a solar panel- and we all had power walls, tesla cars, and charging stations everywhere and build new state of the art nuclear power plants to fill in the gaps.

I think the only argument in this particular, current situation- is President shit for brains needs to get on the horn with MbS and practice a little diplomacy and try to build a relationship with the guy- who you know is only one of the most important leaders in the world.

we produced more oil then this country used for the first time since WW2 under Trump

Biden immediately put a stop to this

we need to go back to it
