Please don't get into this crap. Plenty of people down in Area 51 would be more than happy to discuss it. Nothing good will come from introducing it here.
It's very difficult for me. Having witnessed the riots, looting and fires, I still have bad dreams about the whole thing.

At that high a valuation, I think it would be tough to P&D.  I'm going to put in a stop loss order on my shares.

A lot of folks shorted TSLA and that at the time looked to me like a good bet.  It wasn't (until very recently).  Now there is no way I can see for all these car companies to have this sort of valuation.  We buy X new cars a year, and the profit is $Y more or less.  Suddenly we have three new companies with huge valuations and F and GM have gone up some as well.

I think F and GM can compete in this space pretty effectively.  I bought some F based on what I saw with the EF-150.  I bought Lucid with some play money and I'm nearing a 2 bagger in a month on that.  It's still play money, and in my IRA.  It's up some today, Rivian is down.

Being added to market indices can impact the price of a stock also.

I am not really getting into the politics of it all. I really don't think it's political either.

TV Networks love to race-bait, use fear porn, hyperbole, and flat out lie to get clicks and eyeballs. No different here. I just think it's amazing that a white person is labeled a racist for shooting other white people. LOL.

Anybody who has watched the trial- the prosecutors just might be the worst pieces of shit I've ever seen- but that's par for the course with a lot of prosecutors. People don't realize how awful, egregious, and honestly unethical most prosecutors really are. They push too hard and bend if not break laws all the time- they are not out for justice- they are out for high conviction rates- bc it makes them look good and it helps them in their political future.

I have enjoyed the judge eviscerating this slimeball stupid prosecutor on many occasions. If only every judge was as adversarial with prosecution as this one- it would be a great thing for all Americans- we would have a better criminal justice system.

Tesla is a completely different beast than these phony worthless that will never turn a profit companies like Lucid or Rivian.

Tesla got into the game 15 years before all the other majors were getting into EV's. They are ALL getting into EV's now. The little guys like Rivian and Lucid have no shot.

They aren't little guys if their valuation is the same or greater than GM or F.

One fascinating thing to me was the meme stocks driven up by retail investors.  That understandably appears to have abated of late, but it was hot for a while.  "Story stocks" go up because they are going up.  I tend to think crypto is similar, I bought some ETHE on that basis also, and it has gone up.

I allocate 2-3% for trying to snag a hot stock, and at times it works.  It about covers the times it doesn't.  I think Lucid has produced a good EV, time will tell if they can deliver the product consistently and make any money.

Tesla is the ONLY pure EV company that actually has a chance at remaining a viable concern as a standalone automaker. They had first-mover advantage in the market and they've actually been able to scale somewhat. I still have concerns about them, but I also feel like Tesla has a chance at being the "iPhone" of EVs... I.e. even though Android has a huge market advantage (73% share) in mobile handsets shipped worldwide, Apple has a cult following and it's the "fashionable" phone to own. I think there's going to be a demographic that no matter how many times you point out technology advantages that other brands have, to certain people if it's not a Tesla, why bother owning it?

Rivian and Lucid are acquisition targets (once their valuations collapse to sane levels) IMHO. They'll get snapped up when some legacy automaker realizes they're too far behind in EV to do it internally and they need a technology injection. You can't come into this game late and catch up to Tesla, catch up to the Chinese, or even catch up to the legacy automakers that are finally giving EV a serious try. Too many problems with scale.

agreed

one of the "other" small new comers might make it long term, but its a helluva longshot

The market can remain insane longer than you can remain short.
