I realize I've participated in the politics. Not going to deny it.

Still never thought those arguments improved the culture of this group though.
Culture? This group?

You make a good point.  Some people really DON'T want to talk about COVID.

I've revived the COVID thread, let's try and keep the discussion there, so that folks who don't want to talk about it, won't be forced to read through it on other threads.

meat is cooked for a reason and its not just to make it tender

I think I'll stick to it being cooked
Lots of people eat chicken. If you eat it raw, you puke.

You can eat beef, fish, pork, and many other meats raw, and not puke.

And you can eat raw chicken eggs.

Weird.

I think he knows revealing he likes it well done and slathered in A1 will get him run out of the state faster than switching to the Air Raid
Those people up there like to eat hockey pucks. For real. I've tried to order MR, how I like it, and it always come out MW.

Here is Europe, it's always rare. Like purple.

I eat very under done chicken occasionally, sometimes it's not warm in the middle

no puking yet, but I'll keep trying

the vast majority of places I always order my steak rare, comes out med rare

a few very good steak houses such as Archie's Waeside know how to cook a med rare steak properly

Jack London was said to be fond of under done fowl, especially duck

but they said the booze got him

they will probably blame the booze for my death as well

The wife likes steak "blu", which is rarer than rare.  She had surf and turf at a place in Savannah (it was lunch special only $35) and they actually provided the filet as she likes it.  I am usually medium rare to rare.

Haven't ordered steak in a restaurant in quite some time. We just had 1/2 a side of beef put in the freezer a couple weeks ago and there were a few good steaks included. As I have learned how to cook a good steak using the grill and then the Blackstone griddle, I have no reason to go out for steak. That and I paid just a little over $3lb for the beef including the steaks.

That said, I prefer Med Rare while the wife likes Medium. Pretty easy to do on the grill. Set my target temp to 130 deg for Med Rare and about 140 deg for her medium (indirect heat). Then about a min or so per side on the Blackstone on high heat and the steak come out perfect.

We tried the local steakhouses here, a few of'em, I can do as well at home except the sides.  Bones is fairly well known but more a place to be seen than a high end restaurant, I thought.  We go to STK on occasion as their happy hour is pretty good, their usual prices are excessive.

To me, steak is the easiest thing to cook among anything considered "expensive".
