Both insane, but I’ve never seen anything like Russiagate. Oh wait- yes I have- the war in Iraq/WMDs. Lol.

Just amazing to me that people did not learn their lesson in not trusting anything coming from establishment media citing unnamed or “intelligence” sources after that travesty in which an illegal invasion was kicked off based on lies and phony evidence and probably over 1 million people lost their lives and millions more were displaced.

Establishment media might be worse than it’s ever been with all the ex FBI/CIA creeps on the news room payrolls. John Brennan and James Clapper should be in freaking jail. Not getting high paying jobs working at MSNBC and CNN. I still don’t know wtf the bosses at those networks are even fn thinking.
No argument there. In fact, the more I read about the war in Afghanistan, the more I wonder what in the hell we were hoping to accomplish.

I mean...

Well I know what we were hoping to accomplish.

I just don't believe it was ever realistic.

Well I know what we were hoping to accomplish.

I just don't believe it was ever realistic.
The war in Afghanistan there was at least an initial justification- the Taliban had given safe harbor to Bin Laden and his criminal gang. The US demanded the Taliban hand over Bin Laden or else. Taliban said they would hand him over if the US gov’t would share with them evidence that Bin Laden was behind the 9/11 attacks. W declined any negotiations and said hand him over or else. They did not hand him over, so the US gov’t proceeded to bomb the shit out of them and said hand him over or the bombing will continue. That morphed into change your leadership or the bombing will continue. Which morphed into a full-scale invasion and occupation. And then when they had Bin Laden on the run and in their crosshairs they decided to quit trying to locate him and invade Iraq instead. Makes sense. Not.

My only guesses; US wanting permanent inroads into Afghanistan and have that gov’t be a colony of sorts for US multi-nationals to extract valuable natural resources- as the country of Afghanistan has trillions of dollars worth of untapped natural resources. As far as Iraq goes- my guess here is W had a vendetta against Saddam and wanted to “finish the job” daddy started. Cheney might’ve also figured, hey it’ll be a huge boon for his former friends/cronies at Haliburton (where he was the longtime CEO) to make billions in gov’t contracts. Defense contractors made trillions of dollars off those two wars. Literally.

I suspect the invasion in Iraq was most likely tied to Saddam taking Iraqi oil off the dollar and tethering it to the Euro. Iraq has one of the 3 or 4 largest proven oil reserves, is THE founding member of OPEC, and had long been one of the worlds low cost high volume producers of crude oil. Dumping the dollar for the euro? Can’t have that, can we? Crude oil prices are always quoted in the dollar, which essentially means no matter where you are in the world oil is paid for in US dollars. Which means every country in the world needs US dollars- which let’s the US enjoy a massive advantage over other countries as it’s currency is the defacto reserve currency of the world. Saddam was PISSED at the US and threw out the dollar and had started to trade his oil exclusively in Euros- Iraq was making a killing- it’s oil profits up 17% YOY just based on appreciation of the euro- and like about year and a half later US invaded and his ass was grass.

well, all this political crap is great, but not as good as my round of 41-42+83 this afternoon

yes, doubled 18 because ya gotta have a daily double

this on a course that hasn't been mowed or maintained in a couple weeks.  Greens were hard and fuzzy -slow

fairways long, roughs long

great round for november and probably the last one of the season

Our tough guy outing was a lot of fun.  Comic pins on many of the holes.  The kind where from even 10 feet you're like  -what's a good leave here.   Stretched out it was about 7,280. Weather was a perfect 52, no wind.   Some jokers got to -12 under.   There were some serious sticks.

We played with a team on our hole that had a Ben Crenshaw.   He was freaking drano..  Ramming probably 7 putts longer than 10 feet a few outside of 20.

was about 55 this afternoon, no wind, full sun

great weather, but with the cooler temps, take an extra club

bring your beer to the course, clubhouse closed, good beer, good cigars, good time

I'd be fine with losing the politics. As B.R.A.D. mentioned above, we did try a policy thread. But, that went to shit pretty quickly.

I'll nuke this thread if that's what people want. By this point, we all know where we stand.

I'd rather we get back to cooking, booze and football.

You can always take it over to utee's thread that he slapped my name on.It's not quite the Beer Thread but the party's right down the hall.I always wondered what it was like to be a front man for one of these big factions

That's not my thread, that's all you. :)

It has your name on it, because I split off your posts and it started a new thread.

But I think it's fitting.  You like to post some wacky cartoons and memes and stuff, and it's a nice catch-all for that kind of thing.  JMO of course.

So... Can we nuke this thread?

CDawg can start a new "in other news" thread - no politics.

How about no more politics on this board, period?

Policy is fine. Names, party, etc. off limits.

Amen!

That political crap is forced down our throats through so many other means during the course of a normal day.

I really would like to have a place to go where that stuff is off-limits.

I need a “ safe space”.  😂😁😁
