When you think of Cali, you picture a bunch of laid back, quasi rebellious folk. Anti-establishment Spicoli types.

Kind of funny that they are actually just a bunch of establishment whores, fully assimilated to the borg, thoroughly incapable of forming their own, unique opinions; Fro types.
Cali is a big place. It's pretty much all kinds.

But if they can't generalize about 37 million people, then how can their hypocrisy be on full display when they bitch about identity politics?!?

Rural CA can look like Texas, a lot, and they vote like Texas too.

Same all over the place.  Rural upstate NY.  Rural CA.  Rural Texas.

By the way, urban Texas is voting a lot more Dem than ever before.  Austin has been left-leaning forever, but now Dallas and Houston are moving in that direction.

Time to fire up the kidney stealing business and to scare away potential left leaning folks from moving to Texas. :)

I live in a very urban and diverse area, pretty upscale, and I'm pretty sure the voters are mostly liberal.  Our Congressman ran unopposed most of the time, until he passed.

The city is "whitening" at a pretty rapid pace.

White flight in reverse.

Upstate NY would be awesome, if it didn't have that NYC boil on its butt.

Beautiful area.

Rural Minnesota also looks and votes a lot like rural Texas.

Windmills, heavily subsidized agribusiness, Confederate flags, and all. The irony is thick.

and your mayor was booed at the Braves rally?
nice

I like my rural area and won't be moving to an urban area anytime soon

even if/when I do move to Texas, it really won't be in utee's hood.  Too urban.  Same as my brother's area in Colleyville.  I'd prefer a small town outside the metro

Hooky used to say sort of the opposite.  He noted an increase in fire-ants in Texas through the 70s and 80s, alongside an increase in Republicans, as if they were related. :)

I always tried to remind him that it was really just the people who had always voted Democrat in the Solid South, finally realizing that the Dems didn't actually represent their rural, conservative views.  The first time my grandfather ever voted Republican was in the 1980 presidential election.  But the Democratic party hadn't represented his actual views for a couple of decades at that point.

I'm speaking nationally of course.  Locally, at the time, there really wasn't a whole lot of difference between the two parties.
