The one about pizza? Yeah, no shit.

(been away from my computer - had to catch up)
I rather enjoyed the discussion about pizza.

As you know, I'm a big fan of the Chicago deep dish style.  I also really like Detroit style.

I'm not sure what that weird one was with a bunch of unmelted cheese, but if I ever encountered it, I'd give it a shot.  Ya never know.

Only pizza I've ever had that I just really didn't like, was in France.  It was early on in my first visit to the country, and I went to a pizzeria with some of my local workmates, but made the mistake of not asking them to translate and/or explain the menu, before I ordered.  When it was ready, the pizza was brought out to me, and it had normal looking tomato sauce and cheese, but it also had sausages on it.  But not crumbled sausage and not thin-sliced cross-cut sausage, the way we do pepperoni here in the states.  No, there were just several long, thin, whole sausage links, laid out on top.  I figured-- that's okay, it's not what I expected, but I can work with it.  But then the server cracked a raw egg over the top right in front of me, and walked away.  The locals explained to me that the warm pizza would cook the egg.  But this did not happen.

I tried it, and ate maybe half, because I was pretty hungry.  But suffice to say, I never ordered THAT again.

I’ve almost never had Detroit style, but a bar near my new place does it, and it might be a favorite.

I grew up with a very avant garde place near my house, which at least gave me a sense of adventure around pizza.

I love how that absurd discussion had died off, and then badgerfan comes through like a bull in a China shop, tromping around and leaving nothing but shattered finery in his wake.

Well done, sir. :)

They are well-armed, illegally, and they don't know how to shoot. If they did, there would be a lot more dead people.

The rural fork would destroy a gang that showed up. They can shoot fast animals and flying animals.

Gang bangers couldn't hit a barn.
I guess I would continue to not dispute that the biggest difference on guns between the various groups is mostly training and funding

Detroit style is maybe my new obsession and it's rapidly growing in popularity here in Austin. Originally there was just one place-- a food truck named Via 313 owned and operated by a couple of Detroit natives--that was doing it.  Then they opened a second trailer, and a brick and mortar, and now there are a couple of competitors doing it as well.  So tasty!

Yeah, the raw cheese and pepperoni one is supposed to cook on your drive home from the pizza shop as well.

I never got around to trying it so I cannot vouch.

Sbarros once put raw pepperoni on a slice of cheese pizza and served it to me. Last time I ever ate there.

And now-- cue @betarhoalphadelta to swoop in and provide wikipedia links to prove that Detroit style pizza was invented in San Diego...

Lou Malnati's is the best Chicago pizza. The dough is much crunchier than the chunk of white bread you get at Giordano's.

I've made Detroit pizza from scratch before. That dough is really lightweight, very airy. I think the key to that is to use warm, almost hot water, to get the yeast going at the start. Also, it needs to be left in the oven a little longer in order for the cheese in the center to just about brown over. That picture you're showing got brought out just a little bit too soon.

It's really good stuff.

Looks like someone put sauce on top of a Jets pizza.

need one of those fancy pizza ovens at around 1000 degrees to be cooking raw eggs and melting cheese after it's removed from the oven

why not simply leave it in the oven while cooking eggs and melting cheese

no need to take chances

I could dig a fried egg on top of a pizza.  Fried egg on top of enchiladas is a classic combination, and a pizza is just sort of an Italian enchilada.
