True, but when your job is in a city what are you going to do? 

Can't just quit your job, move to some other place, and live out of your car until you find a new job willing to take a flier on a guy who lives in a car.

change is uncomfortable and takes some effort, but if my family was living in some of these  dangerous places, I'd find a way to get out.

See, that's a bit of bias that's really easy to have and really hard to prove. 

It's amazing the number of people that say they're the type who would do so, yet so few who are in those situations actually do it. 

I'd venture that 90%+ of the people who say they'd do anything to get out of those places wouldn't actually do so, because having been born, raised, etc in those places they wouldn't know any different. So they can't apply the middle- or upper-class filter that we apply from the outside, and then we blame them for not having that middle- or upper-class filter we've got and not getting out.

Honestly, the best route is government work, AKA the military. Granted, that doesn’t lead to certain kinds of socialization.

You’re right. You figured out is you were ugly and gross enough over and over, another person might just snap and say something ugly back. I held off for a while, but you seemed very interested in getting it to that point.

My true colors are that I don’t really want to say something uncivil. But if a person wants to provoke me over and over, I might just be that way. You found me out. I don’t like people being unpleasant over and over.
