At any rate Columbus is ALL IN on Chicago style thin crust. So much so that it is difficult to search out much else, unless you order it from a National chain.

Putting pineapple on pizza should get you ten years in prison.

Sam Panopoulos, a Greek-born Canadian, created the first Hawaiian pizza at the Satellite Restaurant in Chatham, Ontario, Canada in 1962.

Ontario invented something and called hit Hawaiian

If there's a more concrete example of visualizing where you want to be and not where you are, I've not seen it.

I won't disagree, but then list the short list of things that are allowed on a pizza

Tavern or Bar Style Pizza is the preferred style to native Chicagoans…most people do not know that outside of Chicago. It is similar to Columbus Style, but predates it by about 20 years. There is a strong Chicago connection to the Columbus style in the form of Jimmy Massey (but that is another story). So I asked my high school pal Mac who grew up in Columbus Style but has resided in the south side of Chicago for the lifetime of his college-age sons. Is there a difference between the pizza imprinted in his youth in Clintonville and what he consumes in the Chicago Southland?

Mac has some serious culinary chops, in addition to being a great cook and creator for all of his adult life, he was a chef at the Three Floyds Brewpub for many years and once prepared pizzas with the great antihero of Columbus Culinaristas, @Seligmansdog. Mac says Columbus Style is similar but different from his local bar pizza. I say Columbus Pizza is the parallelogram to the rhombus that is Chicago Bar / Tavern Pizza.

Apparently square pizza is a Midwest thing. That said, Chicago and Columbus have two distinct styles. Of course, Chicago was first...

Massey's was widely regarded as the first to serve that style in Columbus, although that was in some level of dispute.

Massey's itself kind of sucks. Like a crappier version of Donatoes.

Does Chicago even count? It's a dead city after all. Might as well talk about the Aztecs inventing chili.

I would often have the lunch buffet at the Massey's next to my office.

The pizzas that they set out on the buffet were pie cut, oddly enough. But otherwise they were square cut.

the shape of the pieces that are cut   .... is that really a style or anything of substance?

round pizza, rectangular, square, triangle shaped  pizza - who cares?
