You seen to think it worx that way - I don't have a problem with that, but the pinheads who caused many of the problems still have their seats and would prolly squelch ideas like that

They are the ones pushing for less police, so I doubt that they would offer up much resistance.

They might squelch the idea of taking out the last man, but one bad guy is better than tens of thousands.

Yeah increased penalties for murder will surely solve the problem. Instead of one life sentence, why not impose two? Solves the problem immediately.

Not really. They can still kill all of the other inmates. Maybe a few guards too.

I THINK at least some of this is a result of opening jails a year ago during COVID.  I didn't see anyone suggesting tougher penalties for murder as a solution.  But it's clear if we turned hardened criminals loose on society, they are going to criminal.

It would be popular, but the three amigos are not tough on crime. That's the problem in Chicago right now. The mayor and CPD are not pleased with that group.

You don't think the mayor is part of the problem?

I'm seriously asking.  I can't say that I follow Chicago's workings closely, but to the extent I do, I haven't seen much of anything from Lightfoot that impresses me.

Who knows? Overall crime has stayed the same or risen by a negligible rate. Homicides have gone up everywhere. Lots of guns sold in 2020, too.

The problem is they are mostly not catching anyone. The "code" doesn't allow for snitching.

The DA and Chief Judge release on little to no bond, and they are back on the street to commit more crimes. Some of those have gone on to commit murder. This is a problem. A really big problem.

It's not the vast majority of people. Chicago has a population of 2.7 million.

The Mayor is week.

The County President, who Lightfoot TROUNCED in the last election, is also the chair of her party in Crook County. They are not friends. The former would do anything to embarrass the Mayor.

The Mayor is a former Federal Prosecutor, who ran on being tough on crime.

Her hands (as well as the Chief of Police)  are tied by the three amigos, who are all financially backed by George.

It's a dying City. Nothing will ever change.

The iron fist of old man Daley are long gone.

Used to be 3.7 million. That says a lot.

Her hands may be tied, but the stuff that comes out of her mouth is also telling.
