Facebook is rebranding to Meta. Did anybody see the video of Mark Zuckerberg announcing this and showing off new tech/ideas for the "new" Meta platform? No way this guy is a human being. He is the weirdest creepiest dweeb in human history. I'm pretty sure he's an alien or a robot that was sent to destroy us. He needs to be killed at once if you ask me.

And so far his plan is working perfectly.  I don't know about "killed at once" but neutralized?  Indeed.

Lucid shares skyrocket after confirming deliveries of $169,000 Air sedan (cnbc.com)

In other news, Lucid Air pops, I'm not sure why exactly, first delivery was anticipated, the car is getting very good reviews which is why I bought some.
$169,000? That's even more expensive than the top flight Tesla- and they have a cult-like following and have been making EV's and perfecting the design & production of EV's for 13 years.

I'd short the shit out of Lucid. No way that company survives. The Tesla success story is like a trillion to one. Just won't happen again.

Those are the initial super delux models.  They start under $80 K in base form.

2022 Lucid Air Review, Pricing, and Specs (caranddriver.com)

With up to 520 miles of EPA-estimated all-electric range and as much as 1111 horsepower, the 2022 Lucid Air aspires to be much more than a mere Tesla rip-off. The first model from startup Lucid Motors boasts an aerodynamic shape that's functional and fashionable. Its spacious and upscale cabin is covered by a glassy canopy that should help it live up to its atmospheric name. The Air also mixes practicality with technology, sporting capacious storage options, and no shortage of driver assists. Sure, Lucid Air sounds more like an '80s cover band than a luxury sedan, but the Tesla Model S sounded like an obscure electrical invention from the 19th century when it debuted, so only time will tell how far the 2022 Air ascends.

The base model has an estimated driving range of 406 miles, matching the Touring model. The Air features a 112.0-kWh battery pack and DC fast-charging capability. Plugged into the latter, the sedan is said to be able to recoup 300 miles of range in 20 minutes. New owners will also enjoy three years of complimentary (read: free) fast-charging at Electrify America charging stations. There's no cap on how many times owners can charge their cars, as long as it's used for personal and not commercial purposes.

Not buying it. I'd short the shit out of the stock. They will be bankrupt within 3 years.

I was tempted 7 years ago to short Tesla, I didn't, but neither did I buy any.  It's play money for me.  If it bellies up it's OK.

I bought some Nikola a while back that has largely tanked.

The problem I see is the heavy hitters are moving hard into this space.

Tom Brady so good, he does one ad pitch for Hertz/Tesla and now Tesla is a $1 trillion company.

On a serious note, Hertz inked a deal with Tesla to buy 100,000 Tesla's for their fleet and put charging stations at most of their locations. Hertz hired Tom Brady to be their pitch man for the Tesla fleet.

Uber has also signed a deal with Tesla. Tesla stock now at $1,077+ a share and the company now has a $1 trillion market cap.

Who was it in here a couple years ago that was telling me Tesla was going belly up in a matter of months? Bad prediction hombre.

Never short a company with a cult-like following + legit genius at the helm.

The problem is EV is such a hard nut to crack- and all these johnny come latelys are thinking they can just get into the game and they don't have the decade plus head start on this shit that Tesla has nor do they have the evil genius running the show that Tesla has.

The heavy hitters all have EV's- and their EV's all suck. Tesla is literally the only EV maker who is making a high quality, reliable car with real range. Porsche's EV sucks. Audi's EV sucks. They look cool- but the cars suck. They are all still far behind Tesla.

I think the Ford Lightning is exceptional, and a harbinger of what is coming from the Bigs.  And yes, I bought Ford stock 6 months back.

these johnny come latelys might just be thinking thay can get in, make a splash, reward the shareholders, then sell out for a great profit and run away

Fearless and i could take him hunting but I'd have to get an Iowa license - don't want to get pulled over on a technicality.Too many eyeballs and camera's around here. Not that we'd be contemplating anything nefarious. And I have never gone to FACEBOOK,so maybe we here will be the Jedi's left who might trip up the Death Star.Tomorrow can't get here fast enough

A hundred years ago, we have mutiple car makers striving for market share.  GM combined a number of them under one umbrella, and we might see that again.  I don't see any of them having any special particularly advanced technology over any others.  They have some features that are nice, or not.  The space will shake out over time obviously, I don't know who is left standing, who gets acquired, and who goes under.

Short term I have some nice paper profits (in my IRA), which really are not much.  It about balances my losses with Nikola, so I could sell out now and be flat.

I allocate a portion of my investments to risky stuff, around 3-4%.  Some of it catches fire, some flames out.

I'm curious about the GM "Ultium" battery pack.  I think it has some potential, but I don't have GM stock now.
