How is Florida the obvious choice? If we're being honest here- the obvious choice is Ohio. Everyone knows Ohio sucks.
You're even agreeing with OAM - go to bed you're drunk

My grandparent's basement was lined with "cans" (jars) of vegetables, hundreds I suppose.  This was in east Tennessee.

The "soil" around here is not very good for gardening, it's mostly red clay and granite,

I would laugh my ass off if Margery Taylor Nuts got her way and CA and the northeast broke away from the midwest and south.
CA feeds 2/3 of the country their non-corn/wheat produce.

The crazy R crowd would be left with the rust belt and a rural south that is 1/3 minorities.  Recipe for success, I know.

She must have gotten that from me, as I have long advocated for giving NY to Canada and CA to Mexico.

We would be just fine without all your hand wringing micro-managing nonsense.

Yep. California gives more to Washington than Washington spends in California.

Not like Florida which sucks down $50B more in federal spending every year than they pay in federal taxes...

The least Florida could do is say thanks...

An interesting theory. Probably doesn't affect the raw bottom line comparatively (Californians almost assuredly recoup more of the SS tax contributions in terms of raw dollars than Florida), though I suppose it would tweak the numbers since fewer Floridians work on a percentage basis.

Lol, countries split up all the time. Anyone would cut their oppressors loose if given the opportunity.

With your logic, we'd still be loyal to the Crown.
Son. your civics teacher taught you better than that. We left the British empire as an act of self determination. They didn't throw us out because our power hurt their feelings.

If you'd like, you can practice your self determination and leave (heck, the state you're in, I think, is probably the most likely to dabble in that self determination). Would hate to see you go. If you'd like, i'll got talk to my parents in their late 60s and my friend's 5-2 pregnant wife and ask them to stop oppressing you so much. I know all the "oppression" you're feeling is pretty hurtful.

Our political schism is largely rural vs urban, which makes sense.  I live in a clearly urban area and am far more dependent on government that if I lived out in the boonies.
I'm generally interested in this, how do you mean?

Lol. We left over taxes, which were practically nonexistent back then compared to the tremendous burden that they have become today. Just pennies on the dollar.

You are kind of proving my point for me though. I don't have even a fraction of a percent of the power and influence that a fella would need in order to inspire the United States to expel California from the Union. So your butt hurt stems solely from the fact that you are grouchy that my opinion on the matter differs from yours. Thought police.

I dont think where you live determines dependence on the government.  Folks who are highly dependent on the government tend to migrate to urban areas.  That doesnt mean if you happen to live in an urban area you are highly dependent on the government.

Now if i lived in a God foresaken desert say like Phoenix I might start sweating it
My granny had ALLLL the canned veggies in mason jars.  Always sent us home with some.  That, and shelled pecans.  Gallon bags-full.
