I think you're right, but could simply be put out there to deceive

Florida didn't ride Urban's recruits for a few years before falling off of a cliff. They just fell off of the cliff right out of the gate.
Maybe Urban left because the larder was bare?  But you make a good point, programs do fall like a rock with a bad hire.

True, but I think there's a major difference there.

It was a complete staff overhaul, going from a very offensive-minded coach to a defensive-minded coach. It's very different from Day because Muschamp wasn't promoted from within Urban's system. So the entire culture changed on day 1, which didn't happen at OSU.

It was also a perfect example of a coordinator who didn't figure out how to be a head coach. He never figured out how to bring in the talent on the offensive coaching staff to make up for his own deficiencies on that side of the ball.

Does Appy St have a chance here???

No. 14 Coastal Carolina (6-0, 2-0 Sun Belt) at Appalachian State (4-2, 1-1), Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. EDT (ESPN2).

Line: Coastal Carolina by 4 1/2, according to .

Series record: Appalachian State leads 6-1.

WHAT'S AT STAKE?

A win by Coastal Carolina allows them to remain as the only undefeated team in the conference's East Division. However, an upset for Appalachian State would pull the Mountaineers into a tie with Coastal Carolina and Troy and give them a key tiebreaker against the Chanticleers.

We've seen countless helmets fall off of a cliff with a bad hire. Notre Dame, Texas, USC, Michigan, pre-Sabam Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Tennessee, Nebraska, Oregon...

These programs don't run themselves.

Yup. People think running the show at helmets are easier jobs. Most of the time they're a lot harder and you have to deal with a lot more bullshit than at smaller programs.

I don't think Day is a bad coach at all, but I think it is possible he's near average, or slightly better than average, it's also possible he's elite.

A Lewis Grizzard classic: My dog, Catfish, chasing stardom (ajc.com)

We had a late lunch in Denver (nearish the airport) at a Ted's Montana Grill and above our booth was a quite by Grizzard.  I asked the server fellow if he had heard of him and he had not, so I gave him a brief overview.

"Shoot low, boys, they are riding Shetland Ponies".

I retained several of his books, they are fun.

2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Makes Photo Debut on Instagram (motortrend.com)

UPDATE 10/20/21: Ahead of the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06's official unveiling, the brand released a teaser video—a short version of a longer film that will be released when the car is revealed—that happens to drop at least one tantalizing nugget we didn't previously have. In the video, we find out that the Z06's flat-plane crank V-8 revs out to 8,600 rpm. That's notably higher than the late Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R's 8,250 rpm redline.

I doubt one can reach 8600 with a pushrod design.

Muschamp went 11-1 in year 2, then lost to Lousiville in the Sugar Bowl.  Then we fell off a cliff.

It looks like you accidentally forgot to include his year 1 results.
